He..what are your thoughts on jacquard scarves. I am new to hermes scarves and have taken a shine to the jacquard scarves with a view to slowly building a collection. However some of the designs seem a bit full on (if you get my drift!) do they usually cost more, are they still made and are they popular? I would welcome any comments.

Well, good news and bad. Good news - welcome to H scarves, the slippery orange slope! The jacquards are indeed gorgeous - I particularly like them with the weave in the jacquard compliments the design of the scarf itself. Like the mandolins in Fetes. The bad news is that the jacquards have been discontinued by H. That is to say that they no longer make them. I believe it is because the silk is more expensive and no, they did not cost more at retail. On the re-sale market, it is harder to tell. Certain patterns - like Christopher Columbus - do not seem to draw very high prices at all. Others (the aforementioned Fetes) often do. It all depends. Many collectors love jacquards and many of us are sad to see them go by the wayside. That said, you can always keep watching eBay and reliable re-sellers!

One of the first two scarves I got (with the intention of framing but never got around to it) was "Amours". There are little bees woven into the fabric. Between the bees, the greens in the scarf, and the bells in the corners I just had to buy it even though I had/have no use for it, other than to take it out and look at it on occasion.
