I need some votes ladies. I purchased a hermes berline https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=422110924589334&id=100003712893884&set=a.241699995963762.63077.100003712893884&ref=m_notif&notif_t=like&actorid=691147183&__user=100003712893884&mds=%2Fsharer-dialog.php%3Fm%3Dmessage%26sid%3D422110924589334&mdf=1 for practicality reasons and as I walked out if the store and brought it home, it became a non practical purchase. For me it looks very casual with the thick straps. Now I've never really like jypsiere until I was shown the item in the store but the 34cm was rather large for my everyday use as I have a rimowa laptop roller bag to lug around.
Now the question is should I go bigger berline or jypsiere 28cm?

I didn't have too much of a pleasurable experience at hermes sf so I'm hoping hermes boston which I'm visiting next week will do me some good. I'm also juggling between the idea of a lindy as well.

Thoughts, comments, confessions?

i have a jypsiere 31 and love it. i was also offered a 34 but refused it since the bag empty was already heavy. i should have gotten a jypsiere 31 earlier.

i have a lindy 34 and find it quite bulky. i chose the 34 over the 30 because the strap on the 30 is shorter.

Thanks baileylab for giving me your thoughts. I had a little trouble deciding whether I wanted a shoulder bag only (lindy) or a multipurpose bag (jypsiere). Also I felt that if I was traveling lindy would be a harder choice to lug around because it may not stay firm on the shoulder. But with the jypsiere, the messenger style is keeping my hands free? Or just get both? You didn't talk about the berline, just wondering what your thoughts were on the bag.

Here's a picture of my berline purchase.ImageUploadedByPurseForum1390824647.501583.jpg it's the smaller of the two sizes.

I have the bigger one and love it. It actually hold lots of stuff when travel but at the same time not bulky or too big
I love the bucket like b/k
I can see why it looks more casual but may b a different color will change that
to me, it seems harder to find Berlin than j and that makes more unique
hope that helps

Hi! I love the look of the jyp. but for me even in the smallest size, it is quite heavy. If the weight does not bother you, it is a smart, practical bag. I was not crazy about the berline until I had it on and wouldn't you know, one came home with me. Now I am a big fan of it and find it to be so lightweight as well as stylish! The only way to know for sure which will be better for you is to try both on a boutique with your daily essentials placed inside. This way, you can judge the weight and usefulness of each option. Good luck!

Thanks for giving me your perspective on the larger of the berlin bag. I have had this bag for about a week now and it has been sitting on top of the box staring at me. It's difficult to compare at the Hermes store because they never have the inventory for me to do the comparison.

The strap I think is what makes it more casual/sporty. However, I need a day to night bag which Berline may not cut it. Also you are absolutely right about the color. Blue and purple are my fav however it does kinda look 'blah' in person. The blue doesn't pop as much as the electric blue.

Now regarding the bulky bit, it looks like a quilted bag which sadly does not allow for much space inside for stuff. So I am contemplating the sillouhette still. Looking for options. Jypsiere was the other at the back of my mind item however 28cm is not as readily available as I hope it to be. So still on a watch for that and perhaps a lindy, which I know are two different bags. But I just wish they had them in the store AT the same time for me to compare. My search does continue....:cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

I agree the weight somewhat does matter because I do intend to carry the bag in addition to another bag (to work) and after work this would be my only bag to prance around.
I do travel quite significantly for work so the easy of moving around and about and still looking somewhat put together is key.

With the berline I feel that it's a fun bag to have but my work is pretty conservative and the blue itself will stand out. I currently carry a rouge togo to work and that's already eye catching.

So berline I think once I see the bag prolly in a larger size in a different color, maybe that might work but the problem is with the larger strap, it's always going to fall in that NOT so feminine look which equals casual-ish.

THe SF boutique unfortuantely hasn't been stocked up at least on the store front with the bags that I want. They may be holding it out on me, so I would have to visit another state's Hermes to get that privilege. Yes sadly.

I appreciate the comments. Keep them coming!

BTW, what happened to you in the SF store?

Hi TogoVeryon,

Thanks for suggesting the Jypsiere 28cm. I didn't see that in the SF store, however I did try the Jysiere 34cm with nothing in it, but that looked pretty big to me. Heavy, I can't gauge but I have a feeling the bigger the bag, the more things I am going to put in it. For example, I normally get a couple of red marks on my arm from the Birkin cause it's so heavy just from like my wallet purse and sunglasses and whatever nonsense I decided to stash in it.

So I think weight does matter somewhat and the looks is definitely important. Convenience is another, So that's why I've added lindy to the mix. I am in between a 30cm and 34cm (if I can even locate any anywhere at the same time to do the comparison). Jypsiere in the 28cm like you brilliantly recommended is also in the running, if I can find the right color too. I am trying to make a quick purchase before the price increase.

Berline in the showcase at the store, grabbed my interest but upon taking it home, that interest declined and it's gotten 'blah' reaction and neglect over the past few days. I just don't 'feel' the bag at all. Sadly.

I don't know if your small one can do this but since the big one I have, the shoulder strap can be detached. I just used it as a "sort of clutch" for a dinner date with DH. I got so many complements!!
