Hermes bearn vs Chanel flat wallet

Hello!
I am looking for a small long wallet that can fit in my several small bags. I have found Chanel flat wallet and Hermes bearn wallet. Chanel is about$800, and Hermes bearn is about $2671. I really like Hermes Bearn but just can’t justify for the high price. Any Hermes bearn wallets owner out there can share your comments. thank you!

I am a happy "Bearn" wallet owner & I find it functional.
You can't go wrong with either the black or dark green. I would opt for a color, JMO
I'm not a fan of the quality of the Chanel wallets .
The workmanship, look & quality of Hermes in unsurpassed IMO & yes the price is a huge difference
but cost per wear, Hermes hands down

I have historically been a Chanel wallet devotee, but have switched to Hermes and the compact bearn (after saying I would never spend so much on a wallet and prefer to part fund a bag - no regrets). It’s light, fits in all my bags and is a pleasure to look at. My Chanel’s were getting a little worn too quickly. FYI I had a flat Chanel like the one you pictured, I thought it would be great for switching in and out of bags. But it was a little too long for my minis, and a little too short for some notes (I travel a lot) so I gave it to one of my nieces.
Both will be available in store - try them and see which suits you best. Good luck, these are both beautiful brands!

I would definitely opt for the Hermès wallet. Although the black version is very nice, there is something really special about the colors of Hermès leather. For that reason, I voted for the dark green. But you really can't go wrong.

A Hermès wallet is next on my list.

I think most of us here are biased towards H! The Bearn wallet is probably going to be my next purchase, either in the full size or compact size, I'm just waiting for the right leather and color. The mini Bearn is also adorable and I'm waiting for the right color/leather for that too. My preference is for either chevre or box.

Hermes epsom is very sturdy and will look like new IM experience for many years. Personally, I am not a fan of the bearn wallet. I used constance wallets in epsom. For small wallets I have several Dior small wallets that hold bunch of cards and money, both paper and coins and they have been very sturdy. LV wallets are also very sturdy and can last for many years and come in lots of style and color combos.

I had my Chanel wallet in lambskin ( which is supposed to be ‘delicate’ but wasn’t) for over 5 years and was indestructible. Really really good quality and beautiful to handle. Hermes Epsom will last for many years and can be also be spa ed . So in my view you really cannot go wrong - which design do you like best for the money?

I agree with others about the quality& would get the Bearn myself. That being said...how often do you change your wallet? I admit that I sometimes just want/get a new one even when my existing wallet is perfectly fine. I have more SLGs than I use (same for bags, ehhh). You can consider things such as cost per wear, but if you don't wear it for years anyways, it's not that major of a factor IMO. You should go for whichever you like more or suits you more, based on the design, the color, and so on.

I haven't used the Chanel so I don't know its specific pros/cons. I think the Bearn is pretty good, although I personally don't 100% love the card slots design. It's still perfectly usable and not a deal breaker for me. I currently use a Bearn compact. Tbh my Chanel long wallet holds up way better than my bearn wallet and is really indestructible despite me throwing it into my bag all the time. It’s definitely bigger with more compartment slots and more practical than a bearn, and despite my bearn wallet being made from Epsom leather, I feel the need to be extra careful about the little leather flap for closure because I’ve seen how worn out my friend’s one got, her wallet was literally falling apart

I love the bearn. I find it very function and easy to use. Just looking at it makes me happy. If you carry a lot of cards it may not be the best choice but it’s a great wallet. I would for for a colour.
