Hi Guys,

I'll be heading to Moscow in June for a few days. :yahoo: I'm so excited because I've never been and I've heard great things about it :)

I know there are a few TPFers from Russia, would like to ask, how easy (or hard) it is to possibly find a Kelly/ Birkin in Hermes Moscow. :graucho:

Additionally, are there any great shopping (Ie. Local russian designers etc) in Moscow that are unique to that area? I know I could google and find the mainstream stuff but I thought with the insider information of people who lived there I might be able to get great finds!

Thanks in advance for all advice!

XOXO

Hi - I was actually in Moscow for a few days a year ago...There are 2 Hermes stores, one in the old GUM building on Red Square and the other is a stand alone store that your hotel can direct you too...I cant remember exactly where. The people in GUM were very nice - they had some bag charm pieces that had just come out and apparently were not in the US yet...they had maybe a Kelly on display...no Birkin....The standalone store SA were nice as well - although no one really spoke much english....I asked about a Birkin - after asking to see charms for my one at home that I didnt ahve with me (I do have one - didnt want to bring it to Russia)...but they werent getting one out for me. But the economy was RED hot there last year at this time and now it has tanked, so maybe you will be lucky.
Most of the bags - LV, Dior were MUCH more than here.....The DVF wrap dresses and Issa dresses that were in Bosco (like a barneys in GUM) were close to $1000US. The best deals are on furs - got 2 fur hats at a great russian store that our hotel (the Ritz referred me to - the original store they sent me to had a lower priced branch down the street) Moscow is a great city....the tourist shopping is on Old Arabat street and that is where you will fidn the souvies to take home to friends - bargain them down there - you can bargain hard ! GUM and TSUM (I think..that is luxe dept store) are designer heavens....but should be $$$$.

Hi Baglady

Thanks for the reply :) Sounds like language barriers going to be a problem. Nevertheless, you're right. I should just try my luck at the Hermes stores :)

Any particular great shopping area besides GUM and TSUM? What was the name of the fur shop again? I'm not quite a souvenir person, I like to buy practical stuff.. like bags :graucho: haha!

Just moved back from Moscow and I have to say that the H stores have quite good selection eventhough I didn't see Birkins on the shelf I saw alot of Kellys. The prices are very high though and no tax refund. Language is a problem even at the high end stores.
