I purchased a Hamilton n/s on eBay. I've purchased bags before on eBay and had no problems. This bag was advertised as new with tags. List price 150 plus shipping. The bag came. In mandarin. But the dust cover was from at least the 2013 season! And there is no tab closure. It has a magnet closure on top but not the new season tab closure. It's in great condition. Definitely new and never carried. Contacted seller and they said they'd accept a return. But my question is: what would you do? I paid $167 total for a bag two seasons old but new. If I return it I want all my money refunded and return shipping paid for as this bag was NOT as described on the listing. Or should I keep it find ask for a partial refund? Help!

It sounds like the bag was as described. It's new and with tags. Were there pics of the interior? If a seller describes a bag as "new", it doesn't have to be from the current season. It just has to be in new condition. You also got a good deal on the bag. It would be very unfair to expect the seller to lose out on the shipping fees both ways.

Personally, it is very kind of the seller to offer a refund. I don't think you are due a partial refund. I think you need to decide if you want to keep the bag or not. If not, return it at your own expense. JMHO.....:smile1:

I agree with keishapie1973. I don't see where you would be due any kind of refund, and the seller was very gracious to offer a refund.

You mention the color - was it not the color you were expecting? Were there pictures with the listing?

If it matters that much to you that the bag be from the current season, then I guess you won't be happy with the bag regardless.

(This is just me, but personally I prefer the Hamilton with the older closure, so I would have been thrilled to get that.)

Did it say that it was mandarin from the current season? If it says anywhere on the listing then that would be not as described. But if it just says new with tags then yes it is as described.

It did not mention current season. But none of the listing do. Serves me right not to check, huh? :-). I think the bag is nice. Just wasn't what I expected. That's why I want your opinion!

I'm with keishapie on this one. It sounds like it was as described, so if you wish to return the bag you will need to pay return shipping. Just chalk it up to experience.

Aww yeah then I think that is definitely not the seller's fault. Sometimes I get excited too when I see a bag at a great price but it usually is some sort of red flag since most sellers are savvy enough to not let a good bag go for less than its current market value.

At least it's not fake right? You could always return it but I think you'd need to pay for return shipping. Even if you tried to file a claim with eBay there would be no basis for it. Are you going to return it? Your other option would be to sell it but not sure if you would be able to sell it for the same price or more.

I did contact seller. They were unaware it was not current season?? But if I return it they refund the shipping cost. It's their policy.

My next question is do you think that's s good price for this bag even tho it's a couple of seasons old?

I think it's a great price! The older Hamiltons with that closure and not the tab closure are hard to come by these days so if it was me I would be thrilled and keep it!

Thanks everyone. I am keeping the bag. Thanks for all your input! I just happened to get a bottle of Chanel Chance from an eBay purchase the same day. I paid for the large 3.4 and received the 1.7! Yes it was clearly described as the 3.4 in the listing! Seller said it was a mistake on her part and said she'd send another bottle asap. I haven't heard from her since. Ugh. So that was my mind set when I opened the MK on the se day. THANK YOU all for being my voice of reason!
