Hi everyone,

I am new to this, so I am trying to figure everything out. I am also sorry if there has been a post like this already! Anyways I wish to buy a Birkin, not anytime soon as I still have to save and wait till the economy gets better before I make such a large purchase. But what I want to know is whether its still easy to get a Birkin from the Hermes store, are there still waiting lists? are the SA's at Hermes wiling to help you find one? When I do get one I would love to get either a 30 or 35 cm Togo, I don't really care too much about the color, whatever I can get my hands on would be great! Is that a hard one to come by? Also my option may be to get a second hand one, has anyone ever bought from decades or luxury- zurich? I am not familiar with ebay and I would prefer not to get a second hand one from there, so if anyone knows good site that sells authentic second hand birkin's that would be wonderful. Any suggestions from you gals would be great, you guys are experts! Thanks so much for everyones help! And sorry for such a LONG post!!

there are soem stores that have inventory sitting right on the shelf, but not all of them....here is a list of tpf recommended reputable online and retailers (resellers) where you can find authentic hermes bags and accessories, but always do your homework, and some will have a higher markup than others, which is the price you pay for readily available h bags...

Madison Ave currently has birkins. Some reputable resellers include: hautegallery; sandia exchange; notaqinnj; jemznjewels (I've had great experiences with them and all are 100% authentic); also check on the finds thread. If you have any concerns always submit on the authentication thread.

Madison Avenue does?? Are you sure?

Yeah I know I still have ALOT to learn about the Birkin, colors, leathers....it seriously gave me a headache yesterday! As for a color, I would love something fun, the purple is amazing! and the orange is so pretty too! But the Birkin is an exclusive bag, and I may not get the color I want so I am trying to be open about it....make sense? So hermes boutiques sometimes have them in stock? If I call the boutique when I am ready are they willing to help me locate one? are they helpful? I have read about some snobby ones on TPF. Thanks ladies, if I have any more questions I will be sure to ask, I will most probably have more! hah! and I will also take a look at some resellers too, Thanks everyone!!

I agree. I really don't think you should settle. A Hermes is timeless, classic, unique and utterly beautiful. If you have to wait for the right bag to come to you then wait that way you are truly happy with what you spent your money on particularly if it's an investment for you. I personally want a HAC 32 in cherve either black or rouge with GHW and I'll wait until the right one comes along before I purchase. Of course that is my HG bag lol .

Anyone bought from Portero.com?

Kim you can use the "search" function in the top right hand corner to look for info on any seller mentioned in this forum.

Try this thread for more info; http://forum.purseblog.com/authenticate-this-hermes/discuss-hermes-resale-ebay-sellers-42494.html

The threads in the Shopping sub-section and the Authenticate this sub-section will be most useful for you.

For pre-owned bags keep an eye on the website finds thread. The bags there have been authenticated before posting.

Good luck.

Hi Thanks! I know what you mean about the color, the more I think about it the more I agree with you ladies. I am gonna be spending alot of money on this bag and I want it to be perfect!! Well after looking at the colors I have come down to 3 in this order......

1- Potiron

2- Fuschia

3- Violet

Ahhh they are such pretty colors, if you can tell I am going for something vibrant! As for leather I think I want to go for the Togo, seems to be hardy out of all of them?

Thanks for all the advice and comments ladies, keep it coming, I would love to know more info from the experts! Oh yes one more, is there still a waiting list in the US stores? As far as calling a boutique and getting one, are they helpful? and willing to help you find what you want? Thanks everyone!

Hi Ladies,

I have searched and searched and I just would like someone to help me with my questions! please, anybody!?!?! So here it goes....

I want to call some H stores and find out if they have any Birkins. Would I be wasting my time calling H stores if I have never bought from them before? How helpful are they? Is it easy to call them and have them tell me if they have Birkins in their store and would I be able to purchase one over the phone? I don't live in a State that has Hermes, well they are suppose to open one here but nothing yet....my other choice would be to travel to CA or NV...but i don't want to go all the way and not get any help in obtaining my bag.

Next question... are there waiting lists in the US? if i call H and they don't have any Birkins, are they willing to take down my details and call me when they have one in?or would I be wasting my time since I am not a regular customer....

Lastly...Is Luxury-Zurich a good place to buy from? I want to get my bag directly from H, but if no one is willing to help me then I have no choice but to maybe buy online....thats the LAST resort!

So what do you ladies advice me to do? I really want one from the H store, I want to get that experience!! But I am so lost and confused...... Thank you!

I called H in South Coast Plaza in CA yesterday for a wallet. The SA-Marianne was truly polite, patient and helpful to me. She went back to check her inventory for me twice. I think you can call just to check out. Good luck with your hunt!

Hello, Kim,

H boutiques usually have very friendly, helpful SAs.....but, if you are not an established customer, you might have difficulty in obtaining your Birkin just in a phonecall. The demand is pretty high for the Birkin style ( as you know ) and I would say, generally, the Birkins bought in a phone call are sold to established customers.

There can be exceptions in everything.....and you might get "lucky" but.....the best way to get "your" Birkin is to establish yourself as a customer first.

I do not live in a state with an H boutique, however, I do travel and always visit the stores located in my travel areas. Over the years, I've visited probably 6 stores up and down the east coast of the US. I'm an established customer in 3 of them and could call and make order requests by phone because I've "been there" and established a relationship with these very kind SAs.

So, that how "I did it" but, I started years ago.....

As for Luxury-Zurich, these guys are fabulous to work with. Why not contact them??

The key, is to take it slowly ( goodness, that's hard to do with Hermes, I know) and becoming established with your store(s) can take time. These bags and accessories are an investment for most of us, I feel, and you want to get "what you want".....when you finally make a purchase.
