Help! Work handbag for laptop and more

Hey everyone! I am at a total loss here. Well overdue for a new work bag and totally stuck. Open to a good tote or a backpack - what's more in these days? $500 or under.

Some that I have considered are: Rebecca Minkoff MAB Medium Tote (love the Saffiano leather for the durability and the structured bottom that won't sag), Michael Kors Rhea backpack, Tumi Voyageur Halle backpack, and looked at the Michael Kors Jetset Saffiano zip top tote - but am concerned about the skinny straps becoming of issue in time.

Would love some ideas or thoughts from others that may carry around laptops. (Mine is 13"). Perhaps some bags I haven't thought of yet. (I currently own a Michael Kors nylon tote, so I am ready for something slightly different).

I also looked at the following Marc by Marc Jacobs bag, but the lack of structure on the bottom w/ sagging would drive me nuts:

Thanks in advance!!!

Longchamp does great leather bags and briefcases. Another brand in your price range is Lumi, which is a Finnish company that does simple, durable bags. Their laptop bag range has some great sale finds - my fave is the Ivory Paul - but their other bags are equally as gorgeous and functional. A true chameleon is the Saara backpack satchel, whereas Nelli delivers on timeless style.
I've had my Lumi XL Supermarket bag for 2 yrs now and it's hardly showing any signs of wear. Their leathers can take any weather (I live in Finland where you can expect anything from snow to slush to water pouring down at any given time) and the craftsmanship is gorgeous; even with zero babying and a lot of use, the bag is still holding up beautifully. With the Supermarket's 2 sets of interchangeable straps - 1 long and 2 short ones - being wide and comfy, you can carry your bag however stuffed and not have aching shoulders in the evening.

I bought a Massaccesi bag that is amazing. Hand made in Italy the old fashioned way one bag at a time in a leather atelier. Prices are great most of their bags are less than $500 and the worksmanship is excellent. I have stopped buying name brand bags and started supporting small Italian leather craftsman. I have found I get incredible bags at a much lower price point that are beautifully made and I can have them changed to suit me. It costs very little to have my bag changed and personalized to what I want. The service is incredible. They are about to launch their spring collection and I cannot wait to get a couple of new spring bags.
They have some great bags that will work as a laptop bag.
