My DH needs a new watch and I'm having trouble finding one to his specifications. First, he is a conservative businessman so the watch should be attractive, business-like and not trendy. Second, he's a fisherman so he needs something water resistant. And third, he is not flashy at all and would prefer to keep it under $2000 (actually he's cheap and would prefer to keep it under $1000 but I'm willing to spend more). He prefers a stainless steel bracelet band, however I stumbled across this Coach watch that I really like: http://www.coach.com/content/product.aspx?product_no=11161&category_id=54

Would the leather band get ruined from being exposed to water when he fishes? Granted, he only goes fishing a few months out of the year and it's not as if his hand is submerged for hours at a time. If the band did indeed begin to show wear, does Coach (or perhaps Movado) offer replacement bands?

Another watch I have my eye on is this Tag Heuer Aquaracer. http://www.amazon.com/TAG-Heuer-Aqu...1_36?ie=UTF8&s=watches&qid=1216091471&sr=1-36

Are Tags decent watches? Or is there another brand in my price range that would be a better buy? I know nothing about watches, much less men's watches so I appreciate any advice. :smile1:

Between the two, I would go with the Tag Heuer. They are very good watches...I have an Aquaracer and I love it! They are water resistant to 1000 feet so no need to worry there. The Coach is pretty, but only water resistant to 99 feet...and the leather band will show wear after water exposure.

we got my dad a tag watch and his specifications were similar to your dh's... my dad's has a black face which i love, i think its the one tiger woods wears in the ads for it, tag is just great

For a new watch in that pricerange, Tag's really good- or look at Tissot. Go with Stainless over leather as the salt water corrodes. For the times he might actually be in the water- go with a diving watch. None of the "water resistant" watches are really waterproof, so I'd recommend a good, but cheap Seiko diving watch. Oh, and for fashion watches, coach is fine (the one you picked out looks really nice), but Tag will have better resale value and is simply a better timepiece.
