I would appreciate opinions on the specs of the diamonds below from Blue Nile - am planning to upgrade my current 0.50 tcw studs to 1.20 tcw ones but need to keep the price within £3k GBP. I am happy to go down to I colour as long as the cut is ideal and the clarity is at least VS2 as I already have a diamond pendant with these stats and it sparkles beautifully with the diamond still facing up white. However, I don't know much about table %, depth %, fluor etc, so would welcome your thoughts on what I should be looking for :D These would be set in a platinum martini three claw setting.

FYI - these will be a 'forever' pair of diamond studs for me, so I want to get them just right within my budget constraints!

Looks good to me with the stats but wait for AME. She's better with the nitty gritty. I don't own any I color diamonds but if the cut/clarity is this good might not make much of a difference.
How exciting!!!

Thanks! - I am really excited - can't wait! Once I have decided what to go for I plan to order them this coming week :D

I'm sure I read in some of the other diamond stud threads on here that a 55% table was about right, but am not sure on depth and whether fluor is good or not. Colour-wise I only have one diamond which is I colour but it honestly makes no difference visually at all, at least not to me (am obviously not sensitive to colour), maybe because the cut is ideal?

In a well cut stone, an I will be very white, even without fluor. It's not necessary, just a nifty natural feature.

Ideally depth should be around 59-61.5ish, but finding the 59-low 60 range is not always easy, esp with a 55 table.

Just based on table and depth alone, they look good---Do you have crown and pav angles? I need to see those. What lab graded these?

Thanks Ame for your great advice, as usual - this is really helpful! I did just have a play with the options on the Blue Nile site but can't seem to see any info on crown and pavilion angles - do I need to enquire about those direct? According to the breakdown on each diamond the grading report is GIA, so I had assumed that the ideal cut was factored into that?

You can go down to SI clarity for studs as long as they are eye clean...they will still look great and it's a nice trick to get bigger studs without breaking the bank :graucho:

itll be on the GIA report. And the label ideal means nothing. They can call it whatever they want. If it's not AGS it's not legitimately graded ideal. Only the angles and proportions will indicate that.

So if you can link me to the stones, I can see the angles.

Right but she cannot tell that from Blue Nile, bec they offer no images of the actual stones. You're buying blind from the paper. So without images, don't go lower unless you want to deal with returns if you're not happy with the clarity when they arrive.

Thanks for the tip Carnel, I did consider that but as Ame has said I am buying them on paper so I don't think I would want any lower than VS clarity.

Great job! They look great. The 2nd one in the link looks just a hair "better" but both look like they should please you very much. The good news about blue nile is that you should be able to return them within 30 days if you aren't thrilled when you get them. But for cut, they look great. Both have crystals and feathers, but since we won't know plots without seeing them (why they don't include those, I don't know) I will assume they should be quite nice in person.

Thanks Ame! No little thanks to you and your great advice :hugs: I am so excited, I am planning to order them this week so hopefully should have an update with some photos of my new lovelies in a couple of weeks time :graucho:
