Help with sizing...

Are all CL small fitting? I tried a pr of shoes like this on today but they were leather. It was a size 38, I would have needed a 37 maybe a 37.5 Normally I would wear a 36 or 36.5

Are you supposed to buy them smaller because they will stretch ?
