Hi all,

I have a little dilemma here. I recently just purchased a DY bracelet from Saks. Actually, I got my SA from Saks to track this down. It took her a while to finally track this particular bracelet and finally sent it to me. Now my problem is, I'm not as in love as I thought I was. I wanted to return it but didn't want my SA to know as she spent a lot of time researching this item and would be dissapointed. Does anybody know if I return this item to another Saks if my SA would find out about the return? I bought this from another saks out of state. Please help if you have any information

You can definitely return it to any Saks that carries DY. This is assuming they just transferred it from another store, if they did a special order from the company I'm not sure what the rules are but they should have told you if that makes it a final sale. I think you could still return it if you argued b/c they do have to let you know if something is final sale before you sign for it. I don't think your SA will find out if you return it to another store b/c they will probably just put it in their case and sell it, unless it is a super expensive item, then they may send it to the store you bought it from but generally they don't do this for regular items. The only way I could see your SA finding out is if the person you return it to is friends with her and calls her (this happened to me actually over a jewelry item from Nordstrom's: the salesgirl called her friend at another store I bought it from and said I returned it; I didn't really care b/c I changed my mind and that is my right but it was still tacky of her) or if your SA looks up your account and sees the return, but I don't even know if they can do this without your authorization. I know they used to be able to look at your account at any time at Nordstrom's but now they cannot do it unless they have the card to swipe and they are looking up something for a return, otherwise they can't just look at a customer's account (supposedly). I don't know for sure how that works at Saks b/c I don't shop there as much, but even if she can look up your account I think the chance of her looking specifically for the return is pretty low.

Hi,

Thanks for the info. I just feel bad that I have to return it but at the same time I don't want to keep something I'm not in love with, that would be a waste. I feel bad that she spent a lot of time finding this item and now that I have it, I'm returning it. I wish somebody out there would know for sure, if its something that the SA would find out.

The return will be put against her sales. All returns have the original sales assistant's number on it so no matter where it is returned it will go against her sales total. It is better to be honest with her and tell her that you don't like it. She can pull up her return record and find out what is returned so there is a good chance she will know.

Don't know if they earn commission in the jewelry department (as they often do in shoes and handbags) but *IF* she earned a comission on the sale then she will know it was returned regardless of what store it is returned to.

it will just be added to her total sum of returns for whatever pay period she is in, so dont worry she prob wont know

and honestly, when i used to work at nordies i honestly did not mind or care when people returned stuff they bought from me :)

i wanted them to be happy with what they have and wouldnt want anyone hanging on to a regretful purchase just cuz of the tiny teeny commision i made

If she works on commission, she will definitely lose whatever she made on your sale. When she looks up your client ID, she will be able to see that you returned the bracelet. However, if you do not love it, you should return it. There is no real reason why you should keep something that you aren't in love with.

I would bring it back to her and tell her thank you for all of her hard work, but you aren't in love with the piece like you thought you would be. You appreciate her tracking it down for you, but regrettably you feel that you should return it so someone else can enjoy it.

I wouldn't go around her trying to return it with another associate or at another store as it looks like you are trying to avoid her - Which wouldn't be great for future purchases.

You could maybe call ahead and let her know you are not in love with the piece and will be returning it. Calling ahead to break the news might eliminate the awkwardness you'd feel telling her face to face? But if you don't like it you definitely shouldn't keep it.

I would return it. Whether you return it at your regular Saks or a different Saks doesn't really matter since you are not happy with it. You simply changed your mind. Don't worry about it and just return it.

I agree most likely your sales assistant will see the return because it is put against her sales (she loses the commission she made selling you the item when you return it)

yes, thanks for all the info. I just feel really bad about returning an item. I really loved it at the time but changed my mind and feel bad that she spent a lot of time getting me this piece and now I'm returning it. I might just call her up and let her know that i will be returning it.
