help with my vintage bag

hi ladies so i thought this vintage red bag, everything is fine except the strap has a gap, and you can see the obvious flobby stitching http://i40.tinypic.com/2rm45ra.jpg

my question is: is the stitching supposed to be so obvious like that?

the gap is OK...don't know about the stitching. You should get the bag authenticated on this forum...the girls will def. be able to help you out. GL!

The gap is prefectly normal on the vintage bags I cant see the stitching though...

The stitching looks normal to me. It looks like a lot of the other authentic chanel bags I've seen. I remember seeing something similar on new bags as well.

Yep those stitches are normal on both vintage and recent flaps.

The strap has a beginning and has an end. It's perfectly normal

Yes, normal. At either end of the strap, the leather is folded back and hand stitched because it's too thick to be done via machine.

I have authentic vintage bags with similar gap and stitching, but I can totally understand your concern. Hopefully now you can just enjoy the bag!

I agree with the others that the stitching looks normal. I have vintage bags which have the folded over ends and also some which have totally continuous leather where it is lapped at the joins and almost impossible to detect where it starts and finishes.
These are hand made bags and there are variations in style between models, eras and collections.
Totally normal to be paranoid on your first Chanel bag. Congratulations
