Hi everyone

A couple of years ago I had these studs made, I researched high and low and came to the conclusion that I loved Cushion cuts diamonds the best and as I love a bezel - it was an easy decision.

I've worn them lots....and I like them. But I don't love them and I have tried to figure out why. Is it the cut or the setting? Before deciding, I tried on a pair of Cushions in a claw setting and they sparkled magnificently. I feel I'm not getting that with these. Is the bezel too thick or just killing it altogether?

I should add that they are fine stones, triple x and colour F and on their own, I still adore the stones. They are .5 carat each.

Can you please let me know your thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Take them to your jeweler and ask him to make a martini setting for your cushion diamonds. It will make your diamonds pop with sparkle on your ears.
All you will see is the diamond, no metal.

Thanks heaps for your advice.

I agree with Lucydee. I am in my research mode right now. I have tried the martini setting in store and LOVE IT. All you see is sparkle.

I think the thick bezel draws attention away from the diamond. Sometimes a simpler setting like the three prong martini or regular 4 prong setting keeps the eye on the prize.

I agree with the other ladies. Perhaps have them reset with less gold to detract from diamonds. I'm personally not a fan of bezel setting. Good luck and I hope you find a solution you love!!

I think it's the setting. If they were done with thinner wire and came to almost a "martini" post (see if you can find the thread on my BGD Bezel studs), I think they'd be a lot less bulky and more open on the ear, allowing more light in. Those sides are basically closed off.

I totally agree, good luck!

Whilst I think bezel setting is cute, I think the biggest problem is 'lack of diamond' so agree, change your setting

My studs are the same size as yours and I have them in a Martini setting. All you see is sparkle. I am quite pleased with them.

Hi Everyone
Thanks so much for taking a look, I really appreciate everyone commenting and sharing their experience on the stud front.

I have taken them to my jeweler and will have them re-set in a claw setting - it will take a couple of weeks but I will post new pics once they are ready!

Thanks again

Hi Ame
I found the thread and I adore your studs - I think I had hoped for a bezel as thin as that but it didn't work out that way. I'd like another pair just like yours....I could use a second pair, right? [emoji6]

I have taken them in to the jeweler and I think it will end up a four prong setting to really set them sparkling. I think that I prefer to give up on the bezel as it seems hard to do....I can't say that they are not what I asked for, but I perhaps the maker of this pair and I had different visions and I didn't really articulate the 'lightness' of the stud that I was looking for on several levels.

The claw setting feels 'safer' for this cut, I feel - I can't see that it can be botched as bad as the bezel, but perhaps I'm still a little naive.

Thanks for your thoughts and input.

Ps I hope they end up looking something like this....ImageUploadedByPurseForum1440146216.754945.jpg
