Hello- I have a 1.16 asscher cut diamond, held with four prongs, and pave diamonds on the band. I love love love the halo settings, but I love my band. Is there anyway that I could keep my band, and have the moutning change to a halo? Is that possible? Or is it easier/less expensive to just get a new setting altogether? Thanks for your help!

Oooh, good question, I can't wait to see the answers. I have almost the same thing going on but it's radiant cut and princess diamonds all over instead of pave. I would LOVE to put a halo around but I don't know if that would "gunk it up" and make it look gaudy....

would love to see before and after pics if anyone has them!

I asked about this at a jewelry store recently. I have a round diamond with small (although not pave) diamonds on the medium width platinum band. I asked about having a halo added just barely below the perimeter of the diamond, which is in a 6 prong setting. They said it could be added, cost would be approximately $1,000 plus the cost of the diamonds in the halo. My jeweler discouraged it though - said it would be ruining a good thing. I love the look of halos, but in this particular case I think he was right, so I passed.

I agree with Swanky asking for a picture. Sometimes adding a halo is not really adding to the beauty of a ring, sometimes it is.
