Hello ladies!

First off, I would like to say that I love reading this forum, all you ladies are so informative and I really enjoy looking at all your lovely bags!

I am saving up to buy my 1st Birkin and have come across 2 bags I love but am torn between.

1. 35 cm classic orange in swift leather with gold hardware. I always thought orange would be my first birkin. Though research I have deduced that swift is a stiffer leather which I like but i have never felt or seen it in person. I have read that colors change based on leather. How is orange in swift leather? How does the swift hold up to wear? It is from 2000 (D in a box) and priced at 13,400. It is from a reputable consignment shop so I know it is authentic.

2. 35 cm Rouge Casaque in togo with gold hardware. I love red as well but i know there are so many different shades and I have read that this is a bright red that is kind of orangey. I am scared to buy something I dont know what it looks like in person. Flash and computers make colors look so different. Just as an FYI, I would like a brighter red over a darker or muted red. I have seen a black togo birkin in person so I know it holds up great to wear but I also know it is softer. I tend to carry heavy things (laptop). I would want my bag to hold its shape. It is from 2013 (Q in a box) and is priced at 10,000. This one is from ebay and I have tried to authenticate it however no one answered my inquiry (I think i dont have enough posts).

Help! I am so torn! I want a bag I can wear all the time. I am allowed to wear jeans to work so I am mostly in blue jeans and neutral colored shirts but I always have colorful accessories. Hopefully I can afford more birkins but this will be the only one I have for a long time.

Your advice is much appreciated! Thank you all in advance :smile1:

I think you should get the rouge cassaque one. Not only it's a beautiful red, it is also versatile as you said you wanted daily wear and it's a new bag! Much newer than the orange that dated back in 2000. But you should try to authenticate before buying. It's a good deal for such birkin so i doubt it. Good luck getting your first B!

Thank you for your response maianh_8686! The authenticity is what worries me. I would be totally devastated if it was a fake. All things considered what do you think about the orange one? I dont know much about pricing but it seems a little high for an older bag or is that my inexperience talking?

I vote for Rouge Casaque, hands down. It is not at all orange-y. RC is a bright, true, very cheerful red.

HOWEVER, please get it authenticated before you buy. Togo RC is not that common. RC usually comes in Clemence or Epsom. Togo, with GHW, and priced at 10k, the chance of it being authentic is quite low, to be honest. You can contact Bababebi, CarolDiva, etc if you are not getting a response here. You pay a fee, but it is well worth it not to waste 10k. Good luck!

I also vote for RC Togo but I agree 10k for a new one in the color combo sounds too low for an ebay posting. Make sure you have it authenticated before purchasing

Swift is a soft leather, among the softest made at present. Although it is sturdier than it looks, it is not at all stiff and doesn't hold shape as well as other leathers do, especially in a 35cm Birkin bag. As you said you want a bag that holds its shape, perhaps consider Epsom?

RC is not available in Togo.

thank you everyone & especially many thanks to bababebi because you solved the authenticity question!

I guess I will keep hunting!

I love both colors n have both
Among those two choices I will go for grain leather but then again rc doesnt come in togo I think
Here's is an advice
Dont rush to commit
Its expensive
Take your time n do some research

I would suggest stalking the good resellers who are known to have more reasonable prices, such as Kaleidoplace. You can also contact them and tell them what you are looking for and maybe they can find it for you. Or let you know if they get one.

In my experience, Swift is not softer than Togo on the long run.
I have seen many Togo Birkins in 35 somehow collapse after a few years....and I have owned a Swift B35 for a few years, that very well held its shape.
Just a quick comment, though: if the B 35 Orange you are considereing to buy is a D stamped bag, It is not Swift. It might be Gulliver, instead.

As for authentication, there are efficient pay services out there, as Bababebi or ***************** to name only 2... I am not aware of their fees but I am quite sure they are quite reliable.

There also is a list of reliabale sellers on this forum,

as well as a reseller thread where you can find all kind of comments about online resellers. You can also ask for reference there.

Everything bababebi said!

bababebi or anyone else that might know....was the RC available in togo in 2011?

Thanks in advance! :smile1:

An SA swore to me it was, and I have seen one or two resellers post them...but even if it did exist (extremely debatable), I am sure 99.9% of RC outside of chevre SO's came in clemence or epsom. (Of course nothing is ever completely out of the question with H, right?)
