Please weigh in and give me your opinion! I want to buy a black handbag that will give me room to carry a nice amount of stuff but still look put together. I'm not buying it for work so it can be a little fun. I'll mainly carry it while I'm out shopping, going to a meeting for charity or out with friends. So the bag has to be versatile in style and sturdy enough to can be carried often.

I'm considering a Chanel GST, Dior Soft or the Gucci Soho large Shoulder bag.

Which do you think I should buy and why? Which one will have style "staying power" and hold its value?

Here's the GST

I've had the exact thoughts recently on the same three bags.

I personally love the LOOK of the gst most. But what's holding me back is that the bag, from what I've read on here, can lose it's shape very quickly even with care. I think the gst can look quite lovely as a slouchier, broken-in bag, but I am afraid of it not breaking in the "right way" which would be shapeless corners and huge crease along the bottom. Check out photos of used bags on here, YouTube, ebay, etc, you'll see what I mean. SUCH a beautiful bag!

The Gucci soho is my second favorite. I like it. I've tried it on. It's very different from the chanel and dior though bc it is a true slouchy bag instead of a structured one.

The lady dior is lovely too and would serve the same function as the gst. I just personally prefer the look of the gst more.

GL!

Love the feedback!

Upupnaway - LOL! The same 3 bags? We must have the same bag style! 😊

I agree with all the comments on the concern over the shape of the GST. I want my structured bags to stay structured and my slouchy bags to slouch. But I love the classic look.

Is the love for the Gucci soho slowing at all? I'd hate to get on the end of a bag trend. I love it now but would I be frustrated with it in a couple of years because it looked dated?! I know with the GST that I wouldn't. Hmmmm

And as I stare at these three bags, I'm thinking the Dior could be my red bag purchase as getting a new one is on my shortlist for pit chases over the next 3-6 months.

So it's either GST or Soho. I just don't know!!

I haven't seen the Gucci in real life, but it looks like a beautiful bag. I chose the black Dior soft (the new version in medium) over the GST because I've heard from so many people that due to the large boxy shape, it is uncomfortable under the arm and won't stay on the shoulder.

I love my Dior soft. It's beautifully made and like any quilted Chanel or Dior bag, it can be dressed up or down. I mainly use mine for travel/sightseeing, so I'm typically casually dressed when using it. It's just trim enough that it doesn't feel bulky under my arm, and it stays nicely on my shoulder.

I was in a Neiman's Dior boutique yesterday and was told that the price of the Dior soft (and a few other styles) has been lowered $300-400 due to the strength of the U.S. dollar against the euro. I'm not sure if that price drop is happening in all Dior boutiques, but it might help you make a decision. [emoji6]

Of the 3 bags, I think the Gucci has the least staying power because the Soho bags are so trendy right now. But, I don't follow trends and if I like a bag I will keep using it regardless of whether or not everybody else has ditched it. I think the Gucci looks classic enough that I could see myself using it forever.

Good luck!

I would honestly not worry about bag trends. Just pick the bag you love most! But I am with you all regarding the shape of the GST. I hate it when structured bags slouch over time. I think I would go with the Gucci, the leather seems to be buttery soft!

I love the Dior.... Especially the new soft![emoji173]️

I don't use it often because I tend to favor hand held bags, but every time I do, I'm struck by how beautiful this bag is. Even my husband, who really doesn't put much thought towards bags, always comments how classy this bag is and how he prefers the cannage quilting over the Chanel quilting.
