Help, what width of gold chain and how to extend

I have a marmont small and I want to extend the chain for crossbody. Gucci doesn’t sell a chain so I can’t add links from it.
What is the width , outside to outside. I see chains Etsy and Amazon but 13mm 15mm 8mm on Amazon inches 0.78 which is too big.
Anybody add links to existing chain?

Maybe Mautto? Also I suggest just buying a chain that’s your desired correct length rather than trying to extend existing. It’s OK to mix bags and straps/chains….

The marmont loops through so how would that work? Just cut whole chain off… then would I have to double loop it back?

Do u know which chain matches gold tone hardware? I see what u r saying, I just went and looked inside bag. I don’t have to have leather strap that’s on the chain.
