I don't know how to clean saffiano leather as I don't have any except for my wallet and I am afraid to treat it and clean it like I do my regular leather bags. I would recommend spraying the inside with Frebreeze LIGHTLY., then stuffing it with newspaper as it has been known to absorb odors. You could also air it out, outside? Just make sure it is in the shade. I am sure it will wear off with time Just keep airing it out with the frebreeze and newspaper.

The best thing I can think of is take it to a dry cleaners. They can clean it for you and that should eliminate any odor. It only costs about 10.00. You could also call your local shoe repair store and see if they work on or clean handbags. Good Luck!

If the smell is inside the bag, try placing an opened zip lock bag of fresh ground coffee beans for a few days. Then, if the smell is still there, try activated charcoal packs. I've tried both of these and they have gotten smells out of purses that I was refurbishing. Hth

Wow! You don't just drink your coffee! lol! Interesting! Never heard that one before, will have to try it. Maybe it just wakes the bag up! lol! Sorry, I am just kidding! It makes good sense actually, I will have to try that, thanks!

I had a musty smelling bag from eBay, and had a hard time getting rid of the odor, but this literally worked like a charm. (I did try baking soda inside a dish in the bag, newspaper, dryer sheets, febreeze and none worked).

I found those little scent beads you put in the washing machine ( I used Downy brand in shimmer scent ) got rid of the smell completely. I placed some in a dish, placed that in the bag/zipped up the bag/viola! It probably took 3 days, but the scent was gone, not just covered. It did such a good job when I sold the bag I didn't worry about the odor at all ( and I have a very sensitive nose ). This worked on the musty type smell - not smoke odor, but worth a try :). Good luck!

Try mixing 1/2 cup of baking soda, 3 tsp cream of tartar, and 1 tsp of salt together and put into a coffee filter, tie tightly at the top and place into your bag with the top unzipped and with good air circulation. Replace every other day and then once a week until the smell has faded and then left. Depending on the size of the bag or the strength of the odour you may want to add an additional bundle if necessary.
You can also add fragrant ingredients to the mix such as cinnamon, rosemary, unused coffee grinds, fresh mint, lemon (or any citrus zest), etc to act as a natural freshener. Both my grandma and mom taught me this and it does work!
