Hi!
I just bought this bag off eBay. It’s my first time buying preloved/vintage from a Japanese reseller. The bag hasn’t arrived yet but I was wondering if anyone can tell if this was painted or dyed? I asked the seller and they weren’t sure if any work had been done. I bought from brand_jfa which I know is pretty reputable. Thank you!!

It looks like original color but being so old previous owners might have sent it in for touch-ups and corners and etc. You just can't know what a bag has had done to it through the years unless you're the first owner or buy from a 1st owner. You might be able to tell by feel if you have lot of experience with Chanel products and redyes, or in several years if another color tone comes peeking through..

It is hard to tell, but the bag remains in excellent condition despite its age. Congrats!

Ah thank you so much for your response! I don’t think I mind as much if there were some corner touch ups or something, but definitely didn’t want to end up with one that was fully re-dyed or painted since I feel like that really depreciates they value of the bag!!

Oops sorry I hit reply on the wrong post. But see my response above!!

It does. But the seller is probably being honest in that they just don't know. Wait until you get it, you might know in person. It looks good though!

It doesn’t look like it’s been dyed in my opinion, but the seller’s lighting might be a bit warm, changing the tone a little. It looks like it’s in great condition though!

Yay thank you!! Yes, I had him send me other photos of a different bag and the lighting on the listings definitely skewed yellower than the additional photos he sent which were in natural light

Update! The seller sent me additional photos in natural light and he says he thinks the bag may have been recolored...but based on these images I don’t see what he’s pointing out as recoloring??

Did you decide to get the bag? Light color lamb skin is very hard not to get a stain on. I have a little red vintage Chanel Camera bag with fringe, she is very pretty, but alvery easy to be darken by color transfer from dark color clothes or dirty fingers.

I’m very careful when using her.
I don’t set her down anywhere, just carry her cross body.

I feel like this red color could suck up every dirt.

This bag came from Japan with stains on her. After being cleaned up with baby wipes and polished with mink oil base Saphir leather conditioner, she has been restored.

Because of her beauty, I’m keeping her, but I would not buy another lamb skin Chanel with color other than black again. They’re just too high maintenance items.
Hope this help.
