Hello,

I recently got engaged and have been wearing a round brilliant with Micropave along the shank of the ring. However, I think deep down I would prefer a classic and simple setting as I feel its more "me" and something I can wear for many, many years as I don't plan to upgrade my engagement ring down the road.

I love Tiffany engagement rings but my man definitely cannot afford the price tag of the blue box so I am content with getting one of our local jeweler to replicate either one of these designs. I am so torn between the Tiffany classic setting vs. the Bezet one. I see a lot of pictures of the Tiffany solitaire on tPf but have had a hard time finding photos of the Bezet on real people. The centre diamond will be 1.5 carats. Opinions much needed ladies, please help! :shame:

By the way, I plan to get either the rosé gold Cartier Love wedding band or one of their thinner rose gold bands as the wedding band.

I'd stick with the classic style over the bezel style. It's going to be a little more classic and go with more stuff, vs the bezel being more contemporary.

They are really different. The solitaire is that classic look. The bezet is more modern. Low, bezel settings are ideal for certain careers (most medical fields, for example).
Maybe try on samples of both to see what you love.

shopaholic_tasha posted this on another thread, hopefully doesn't mind me reposting it.

Thank you for your replies ladies! I think I am pretty set on the classic solitaire but felt a bit swayed because the bezet still has the clean simple look, and its not as commonly seen around. Fiance is only letting me change my setting once before the wedding day so I just needed some advice before taking the plunge.. lol.

First, congratulations!!! I had the same thoughts as well. I'm more a bezet/bezel girl myself, but went with the classic prongs because its a diamond ring. Diamonds by definition need light in order to maximize their brilliance; bezel styles cover up access to light even fractionally more than a prong setting, so for me the more appropriate choice for a white diamond was prong. Coloured stones i would not hesitate to bezel set. Rightly or not, this was how much I analysed the setting of my forever ring! Also, I always admired my FH's great grandmother's "plain ole" prong set solitaire. It -the diamond ring- was over 70 years old and so beautifully classic and timeless, which added to the appeal. Yes, it was almost 4 carats, but it's impressive that something can look perfect decades and decades later, so it wasn't a hard choice when I had to make it (and I'm not in the medical field so practicalities weren't too much if an issue). That said, I LOVE Kelly Osbourne's engagement ring, so really I don't think you can go wrong either way, it's which one you really love.

Good luck and let us know which you go for!

I have a Tiffany solitaire and I love it. I can pair it with any band that I want. If you want to pair it with a Cartier band, I would suggest going for the solitaire.
