So its been a week of bitter disappointment
I‘ve had multiple purchases cancelled without explanation and now the one I was most excited about turned out to be an entirely different color/season/leather than I was anticipating, but I’m on the fence about what to do.

I THOUGHT I’d found an 06 Blue India, when it turns out, I actually found - what appears to be - a brand new 09 Tempete

Now, I’ve never been much of a fan of the agneau leather
After a few years break from Balenciaga, I bought a brand new Anthracite in 09 that turned out to be agneau and I hated it & vowed to never own another one (my original post)

Here’s my dilemma — I do LOVE this color
It appears to be that perfect blue/grey shade I’ve been chasing for years!
The leather on this one doesn’t seem too bad. It doesn’t feel as thin & stiff & plasticy as I remember that Anthracite feeling.
So now I’m really torn :confused1:
I actually bought the return guarantee in case it turned out to be something other than what I was expecting, so I can return it, but of all the bags I purchased, THIS is the one that winds up being (or at least looks like it is) NWT and in almost flawless condition!

For all you Bbag owners/experts, whats your honest opinion of agneau leather, especially the leather used during 09 (Q tag) and the color Tempete? Does it wear well? Fade? Should I stick to my original plan & return it or should I relish the fact that its my absolutely favorite shade of blue and keep it as an unexpected surprise?

Honestly, when I first saw it peeking from the box/bag I got excited. I only got disappointed once I saw the tag inside the bag (then I got excited again when I found all the tags inside the front pocket) :P

I agree, the color and condition of this bag are so lovely. However, if you're not big on agneau and have vowed to never own another one, I'd send it back and keep looking for Blue India. I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

Side note: I've not owned anything 09 leather, but I have owned several years worth of agneau (11, 12, 13, 15 & 17). For me, it's hit or miss on quality, sometimes even within in the same season.

I agree with @ghoulish regarding agneau leather. They run the gamut. I've had some that were so gross I couldn't sell them fast enough. I've had others that are more sumptuous than some of my chevre bags. this one looks lovely, but only you can say how it feels to the touch.

Regarding color, I prefer Tempete to Blue India.

Thank you all for your input!
There’s most definitely a difference between this and my chevre bags
this one appears to be missing that silky shine & veining that chevre bags tend to have, although it doesn’t have that same plastic like look and feel that I remember the anthracite bag having. This one definitely feels more substantial (& based on the backside of the bag, I’d actually think it was chevre)

I’m definitely in love with the color and the more I look at it, the less likely I am to return it, but if there’s anyone out there with experience & an opinion on the color or leather from this season, I’d love to hear from you

Here’s how it looks next to my Blue Jean first
While the colors are definitely different, I think this is the closest color I’ve found to blue jean

I would give anything for tempete in this condition. For me leather and color decide together …. I had and sold disgusting chevre with sticky handles, and had and still have agneau in various colors and some colors are better in agneau… for me it is from one bag to another , just like mu husband and his basses - sometimes one will surprise you how cheap and resonant it is, and my purses, sometimes the worst year leather and a particular color just work together with hardware to LOVE it. I have one, new to me - bleu paon faded towards greenish a bit, totally dry leather, but all works together so well like the old painted faded wall somewhere in Greece and I needed that in my life in snowy Canada …. so you never know what is going to trigger your love

if this will be in addition to the much coveted blue india, keep it.
if this will be in replacement to the much coveted blue india, return it or sell it.

trust and believe that you will not be able to let go of the blue india, and you'll wind up selling the tempete down the line at a loss.

i have bought and sold far too many bags because i bought them as a replacement for the bags that i truly wanted, but couldn't have for whatever reason (finances, availability, etc.).
IMO its better to wait for what you truly want, even if it takes some time

As a die-hard Chevre fan, I was sceptical when I bought my (only) Agneau Bal, a Murier WE from VC. When it finally arrived though, I surprised myself since it didn’t feel lesser than my other vintage Bals. I was elated how beautiful the colour was and hand-feel.

I still think Chevre is more durable than Agneau but for aesthetics, some Agneau bags are still so lovely.

Probably not the most helpful post here but can I just say how pretty your new Bal is. And this is coming from somebody who cannot do blue bags. ❤️

So I actually wasn't looking for Blue India
Truth be told -- my HG is an 05 Teal or Blue Jean City
I just stumbled across this bag on TRR last week & was drawn to the color and we all know how helpful their descriptions are :lol:
this is how it looked on their site

I researched the color threads and previous seasons to see if I could determine what color/season it might be.
Most of the photos of BI looked more green or blue/green, but photos shared by @protein_ recently (https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/nov-dec-our-new-babie-bals-we-need-more.1064898/post-35883158) and @Brits'n'Pieces (https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/sept-oct-new-reveals-show-us-your-goods.1063627/post-35792950) made me think it *might* be Blue India. Thats why I took the chance & paid for the return guarantee

Like I said earlier, when I unwrapped it I was actually really happy to see how blue it was. It wasn't til I saw the Q on the silver tag that I realized it was agneau and not chevre. I think thats what I'm most concerned about since I have no experience with agneau bags other than the Anthracite which I returned w/o ever using it

@fayden I honestly would have guessed that the Work was Blue India and the City was Tempete

Both of those bags are gorgeous!!
@*Jenn* this definitely isn't a substitute or replacement for BI since that color was never on my radar in the first place. If anything I'm thinking this might sustain me until (if) I ever find a Blue Jean City.
@vesna I have to admit, I wasn't expecting it to be in this condition. I really wonder if the previous owner ever carried it (this is the 2nd bag I've received from them recently that arrived in brand new condition although the other one didn't include the tags)
@Norm.Core I've always been a sucker for lamb's leather bags. I used to collect Marc Jacobs bags & I remember when he started using lamb's leather -- I couldn't get enough. I don't know if its how its treated or what, but lamb's leather on Balenciaga bags is different. The biggest difference from chevre bags is the lack of veining & shine to the bag

Thanks for all the opinions, advice & support
I think I'm leaning towards keeping it -- unless someone shares a horror story about the color and/or leather

Did a bit of digging and it's as everyone has said, both good and bad 09 leather. Sorry, I know it's not much help.

I noticed that too
One thing I did find which was a little promising was an entire thread dedicated to Tempete and nearly all the comments were positive. Do you happen to know if the giant HW bags were made with the same leather as the regular HW bags that season?
