I am new to coach handbags. Usually stick with Louis Vuitton Chanel and Burberry. But this bag and style has gotten the best of me. After jumping the gun and buying first. Then doing research later. I’ve noticed the serial number doesn’t seem to match any pattern I could find information about. I have two questions I guess. Is this bag authentic and if so when was it mad? Also has “donated” stamped inside. What does that mean?

I don't know where you're looking for information or patterns, but two of the six Salearea Coach Guides posted at Ebay cover Coach crreds and serial numbers:

There's nothing unusual about the pattern. If by pattern you mean things like physical layout, spacing, fonts, etc, there's NO standard model, every plant was different and you can only compare bags of the same style made in the same plant, month and year. If you mean that it has a number instaed of a letter for the third digit - the plant code - that's one of the regular plant codes for the Turkish plant. I mentioned that in the Salearea Guide on serial numbers:
"The third or last digit was the plant code, originally a letter of the alphabet but with the expansion to Turkey, China and beyond, Coach ran out of letters and began using single numbers..."

I don't see any problem with the creed, but we need to see photos of the rest of the bag for a full authentication, read Post number One at the Authenticate thread for details:

The serial number indicates a City Bag made in Turkey in December 1996, if the rest of the bag is genuine. The "Donated" stamp is a good indication that it was donated directly by Coach to a charity or something similar. What I see so far makes me believe it's authentic.

Like I said, it's always best to ask for authentication! I thought the font size of the serial number looked a little weird, but I wouldn't really know - thanks!
