As the title says, I can't decide between these two bags! I need a plain black smallish bag which I would carry for work and casually. I have until the end of June to decide so I would love some input if anyone has the time :)

Factors I am considering:
Style - I only want to buy one black bag so I need this to be a style that won't look dated in a few years. Although I love the look of the Celine, will the winged sides stand the test of time? Plus I LOVE that you can monogram the Fendi.
Wear - As stated, I want this to last, so it needs to be able to withstand general wear quite well (I plan to use this bag maybe 4-5 times a month). The saffiano leather on the Fendi is slightly convincing me that it may be the better choice in this category but I could be wrong?
Functionality - The Fendi seems more practical as it's easier to get into BUT I like the idea of a shorter shoulder strap on the Celine as it seems the bag would be at an easier height to access. But then the flap/zip combo on the Celine seems a little complicated.
Designer - I already own a Celine Edge in medium so it would be nice to own a bag by different designer (I don't have anything by Fendi).

TLDR - I think I do think the Celine is the slightly prettier bag but that the Fendi will be more practical. Am I wrong? Which is the better bag? Or am I missing any similar bags which could be my perfect bag? (Not a fan of the Givenchy Antigona, Prada Saffiano Tote or Saint Laurent Sac du Jour)

I like the clean lines of the Fendi. I think it's very pretty and Saffiano is very durable. I do like bags I can reach right into. The flap on the Celine would annoy me.

Good luck deciding!

I'm torn! I love Fendi bags but this Celine is realky nice. I wonder if the "wings" will stand the test of time too, but it's just so cute. You have a tough decision. Sorry, I'm no help :smile1:

I prefer the Celine over the fendi from these two styles

Thank you all! I guess I'll see which speaks to me closer to the time :) it is a difficult one x

Are you a classical-smart or need add a bit of the same to your outfits then the Fendi

The Celine has 'minimalist' and stealth written all over it. It's a highly desirable bag if you don't want a bag to advertise its designer.

I don't see the Celine 'jazzing-up' or smartening a casual outfit so well as the Fendi, as its more a bag for outfit harmony. I don't know what you're usual style is but ultimately the Fendi wins for versatility

Oh my gosh, that's really hard. I love both. I agree with everyone's comments. My first instinct was to say "go for the Celine" because it's gorgeous, but then I read mkr's comment about the flap and I agreed with her. Hmm. That said, the Fendi is also beautiful and as papertiger mentioned, it's a bit dressier...

Hmm. I'm not being much help, am I? Ok. If the flap wouldn't bother you, go for the Celine. :)

What a good way of looking at these Paper Tiger! Great insight.

My opinion is to go for the Fendi for a few reasons.

I have avoided bags with the extended gussets (even when I like them) because I just can't see that trend lasting. And I don't want a bag that screams its birthdate when I wear it.

I like bags I can reach into. I put up with flaps on Chanel because...its Chanel. LOL! But none of my other bags have them.

I like how polished the Fendi is. But then that fits my style. Except for a few outliers in my collection that won me for other reasons, I prefer polished, tailored feminine bags. However, my style it totally irrelevant here. Which one fits your aesthetic?

I love this answer, it sums up the different aesthetics of thes two bags so well. :smile1:

I just got the petite 2Jours in gray, and I love it for that reason -- it gives my normal casual, somewhat boring outfits a bit of punch and polish. The Celine is beautiful, but functionally, that flap would drive me crazy. But if you wear a lot of sharp, tailored suits, or bold patterns, the Celine could give you a bit of softness that would balance out really well. It so depends on personal taste. But for me, I pick the Fendi.

Thank you all so much- especially Paper Tiger for your insightful comments! My style is quite classic, and I suppose does verge on boring sometimes so a bag with a bit more to it would help give my outfits a little something more :)

I think I'm agreeing with what most of you have said- Fendi slightly has the edge in what I'm looking for in a bag at the moment. I've provisionally decided to purchase the fendi next month and then perhaps later on in the year get the mini belt in a bright colour [emoji2]

1)I watched a YouTuber named Melsoldera, and she did a mini review on her Celine belt bag. She mainly hook the flap on top of the belt or just left the flap hanging. I think that if you left it unhooked and leave the bag zipped or vice-versa, hooked the flap and unzip the bag, it shouldn't be difficult to get in and out of. Either way, you'll still have some sort of security.

2) I don't see the belt bag as trendy or outdated. I can't say that it'll be as timeless as the Chanel classic flap is...but, hey...the luggage tote survive for 5 years, and some may argue that it is still going strong today. And the wings aren't as prominent as the tie or the phantom bags are. So I don't think you should worry about the wings so much. In my belief, the belt bag has a pretty good chance in not quickly becoming some fad.

I don't own those bags, but I just want to give you some more opinions anyway. :flowers:
