Hi Girls,

I want to buy a handbag to celebrate my 25th birthday and a new job. I think my budget is around £1500 or less (although this may change if I see something I'm totally in love with).

I tend to like relatively structured bags with leather/canvas that does not need to be babied too much because I'm very clumsy (yay for Saffiano). I'm looking for a small to medium sized bag to carry a few daily things. Ideally with possible shoulder strap too.

My possible options:

- Prada Saffiano Lux Tote Small - love the look of it, is Saffiano and has shoulder strap but snap closure and worried about Prada's declining quality?!

- Fendi 2 Jours Mini - like the look of it and the Saffiano leather on the front but not 100% sure on the button snap closure, like Prada

- Louis Vuitton Speedy B 25/30 DE - love the classic shape of the bag, seems durable but worried about sagging and seems like everyone has one!

- Loewe Amazona - I'm not sure on the exact model but I saw one in the shop and I loved the shape, it has feet, it has a zip that extends to the sides, has a shoulder strap, leather lining...any ideas on how scratch resistant their leather is?

- A Wang Rocco - quite like the look of it but prone to sagging and heavy studs??

(Love the Chanel double flap too but out of budget at the moment)

Please feel free to recommend any other bags I may not have come across yet!

Out of the bags you listed, definitely Amazona. It's a classic shape, comes in loads of leathers and colors and, from what I've seen, also very durable. I guess the way the bag handles scratches and wear has a lot to do with the leather and the way it's been cared for.

Of your choices I like the Amazona as well. The speedy is nice and a classic but not structured unless you get a purse organizer. The Rocco is heavy but maintains its shape surprisingly well as the leather is very thick, it only has a bit of slouch.

Have you considered a Givenchy Antigona. It is structured, chic, durable and has a bit of edge! It also comes with a shoulder strap.

I should try the amazona again in the shop! Maybe I'll fall in love with it more than I already did the first time.

If you're getting a bag because of want rather than just need, I have one piece of advice for you: get the one you fall in love with. If you're not majorly into the Amazona, get something else. It's good to think about things when you're spending a lot of money and getting something you have to try and fall in love with just might not be a good idea, however smart and thought through your purchase is. :smile1:

Fendi 2 Jours Mini!!
Prada Saffiano Lux and Speedy, while really good designs and very practical, have become too popular in my opinion. I think while the Amazona is nice, I am around your age and I have not even considered it once. But that's just me. And I just personally do not like Rocco.
I just love the way 2 Jours Mini looks. I love the metal bar and the tag design. So many colors to choose from too.

You have to see them and try it in store.. I have the same dilemma two months ago deciding what to get between saffiano lux tote and fendi.. I thoroughly did my research and went to different stores to try all my options before deciding what to get. Ultimately it all boils down to what u really want and what fits ur lifestyle. I have to mention that although I love the fendi 2 jour mini, I went ahead with the Prada lux tote because I didnt like the very small zippered compartment of the fendi bag.. And the soft sides might bother me in the long run.. I got a perfect prada lux tote no quality yet and i am happy! Goodluck finding your bag :)

I know that it is a popular bag, but I adore my LV Speedy B 25 in Damier Ebene! It is so practical, worry free, lightweight and it fits a lot! I also own two Prada Saffiano Lux totes in bn2274, but for me they are more formal bags I like to carry to the office. So I think it also depends on the occasion you want to carry the bag. The Rocco is to trendy in my opinion, I like more classic/timeless bags.

I agree with all the posters who said try them on. Pictures often don't give you the best idea of how you will respond to a bag.

That being said, I would choose the Prada Lux Tote. I have pink one in mini and red one in small and they are definitely some of my favorite bags. Unlike some I haven't had any issues despite wearing them a LOT. The design is so convenient with zip and open compartments. And I love the optional strap. I can wear it on my arm, as a shoulder bag and as a crossbody. Finally, I love the rainbow of color options. I've had to "force" myself not to buy a whole lot more of them. Although a black one is definitely on my radar.

I wouldn't care who owns them because I love them.

I don't care for the Fendi 2jours. I thought I would but when I saw them in person I wasn't moved.

Someone suggested the Givenchy Antigona. You should give this one a look. I just tried on one is store and was surprised how much I liked it. If I weren't worried that bags with extended gussets or trapezoidal shape will look so dated later, I would be very tempted.
