Hi Ladies,
If given a choice of 1) Rolex watch 2) Cartier watch 3) Solitaire diamond ring 4) Others (Any suggestions?) as a 10yr wedding anniversary gift, which one would you choose & why? I need some help making a decision. All of the above is not an option (I wish![emoji16]). So I need to choose wisely. TIA!
K

Need more info on what you currently have/don't have, what you lust after, whether you're likely to get the others in the next year or so anyway.

Max budget is 10k. I do have a lot of Cartier & Tiffany's jewelry (yellow & rose gold). I had wanted a solitaire ring before - the current one I have is a channel setting. I find solitaire to be classic & pretty but won't go for less than 1ct at least. I am liking the VCA alhambra collection a lot - but not sure if I can wear it daily & also have not seen them IRL yet since they don't have a store where I am located...

You absolutely can wear VCA every day. They just came out with new pieces so I encourage you to check the website for inspiration.:smile1:

Based on the info you provided, $10K budget, no 1 ct solitaire ring, desire to own one, and resale value and ease of upgrade of 1ct solitaire diamond, I would definitely get a 1-ct diamond ring.

A solitaire ring, especially with size of 1ct or larger, is very desirable. In terms of appearance, it is elegant and significant. In terms of function, it is very versatile, matches any kind of outfits, and can be worn in any occasions. You get lots of mileage with it. In terms of value, it can hold ts value much better than any other jewelry. If you select top cut diamond, you can more easily resell it for upgrade or change of mind than VCA or Cartier jewelry of the same budget.

In case you decide to get a solitaire ring, I have the following suggestions. 1. Ask Ame to find you or recommend top cut diamonds (1ct, I color, VS-Si 1 eye-clean clarity). 2. Get the Vatche U-113, 6-prong platinum solitaire setting. It is very elegant looking, and comfortable to wear. The setting allows the diamond to sit at the right height, maximizing size appearance without catching clothing. 3. If necessary, stretch your budget by 5-10% to get the diamond and setting combination. Trust me, you won't regret this purchase and you will enjoy this ring forever until you are ready to upgrade diamond size. In this case, you can change the head and still use the same setting.

Does your current channel set ring have a large diamond (larger than the melees inside the channel) or is it a channel set full or semi-eternity band? If a "large" diamond exists, you may consider putting it in a solitaire diamond by the yard bezel type of pendant setting. It will complement nicely with our new solitaire ring.

I would love to have a rolex watch! Lol..it depends on what you already have and whats your budget...if you have a nice watch already then why get another? Go for the diamond ring...but if you already have the ring then go for the watch!

I love watches, and resale for Rolex is always good too (if that is something you care about - I don't really but many do). Cartier also comes with classic designs. But if you're set on a solitaire, you can easily get a 1ct diamond for less than $10k, and even a really good quality one for less than $5k at family local jewelers.

Hi! Thanks for responding. This is what my current ring looks like. ImageUploadedByPurseForum1443995891.027730.jpg Initially was thinking of resetting it for a wedding band but I like the idea of a pendant or bracelet better. [emoji4]

Hi! Thanks for responding. I have not found a $5k 1ct ring at any local jewelers so far.... Did not know tht was possible. I love watches too! Which is why I was torn. It seemed that I am leaning more towards a solitaire now... Who knows?! I might change my mind again tom! Sorry, it's so difficult to choose! Wish there was an all of the above option [emoji12]

I agree with every word!

2nd.

While a Rolex would be nice, if you're not satisfied with your ring and you can throw money at that, that's what I'd do. You won't get much for your current one, that's just the nature of the resale market. So keep it for sentiment or reset the stone as a necklace and get a new head and reuse the setting with a new stone.

Interesting - Maybe the sacrifice in quality is a bit much then. Good luck on your decision!
