Hi guys, I have an LV bag Odeon PM NM. When I purchased it 2 years ago I could scan it through my phone with an NFC reader.
I want to sell my bag, but my phone doesn't detect the chip (already tested it with 3 different phones). Is it possible the chip can be damaged after a couple of years of use?
And what do you think about selling LV bag without a date code but the chip are missing?

Hi!!
I guess the chip has a life span. I have heard from some others resellers that they have found some bags such speedy bandouliere , neverfull without the chip . But I believe only LV that can have the access to the data . My personal experience is that, I have returned Neverfull DE 2021, BNIB fresh from the store . It's just bought like 2 day ago since it is accompanied with the original boutiqe receipt. But when it's being consigned , the chip cannot be detected. Even all the physical traits from all the checking shows that the item is 100 authentic, I still returned it because of the chip issue . one week later, the same client returned with the same Neverfull , but now it can be scanned. I'm not sure if the item is returned and replaced with the other new item (since it's still in guarantee period) or the chip was being reset or else. But the fact that the Chip cannot be detected while we know that it's a new item, I think the chip can be like that. Either has life span or cannot be detected by common NFC tools.
We know that LV makes their product in Chip to stop the resellers. It's our biggest obstacle to convince our buyer that Chip is not the only things that makes the item authentic . Physical traits of the item is also matters.
It's been 3 years since 2021 for all LV product in chip.
I was wondering if there are same issue if the chip cannot be detected after some period of usage .
if yes, it concludes that the chip is not durable .

Please share if you have same experience with your LV chip , maybe we can discuss more...

Vuitton uses the higher end of the available clothing-compatible NFC chips, but even those have an up to 10 years lifespan, according to their factory specifications.
If they can’t be detected brand new, that is weird though.

Have you asked LV store nearby? I'm curious about this too, as I'm worried if one day I want to resell my bag but the chip can no longer be scanned even though I bought it at their boutique.

Yup, I have read about the lifespan of the NFC, but in my case, I only used it for about 2yrs and the chip is gone. I am worried that it will make it harder if I want to sell the bag to 3rd parties. Maybe other members have a similar issue?

Hi, i have the same concern about LV chip.

I bought LV bag from boutique, and it was 2 years ago. But when i'll do checking the chip, the chip is not detected.
is it possible if LV Chip will be fade after months or years?
And if I want to sell my bag, is there any seller / market place will be accept my bag?

Stronger magnetic fields can easily ruin the chip permanently. And there are a few out there.
But I guess since all bags and items will be like that soon, marketplaces will adjust, this will be the new normal.

Hi, I'm curious about it too, I have the same problem with the LV chip. I have an LV Speedy Bandou 25 damier ebene bag NM. I bought it in 2022, but now the chip can't be detected, is this common for LV bag with chip?

Hi!
I have the same problem, I am also curious if any reseller will buy the bag if the chip does not work?

Most of these chips will stop working eventually. And the second-hand market will adapt and get used to the fact that only recently bought stuff has working chips. Probably 5-10+ years old stuff will be considered "vintage" and that's it.

As through my experience, the NFC tools that detect the rfid chips can only verify that there is a chip, however it does not guarantee the authencity of the chip unless you go to LV Boutique to scan. therefore the conclusion is we still need to verify by the quality, material, hardware, stamp and logo by experience and expertise or use entrupy or other authentication platform to verify.

I have almost a year of sac sport empreinte, and the NFC tool can't detect the microchip. But my reverse metis that is older (around 2 yo), the microchip can still be detected. I didn't scan the empreinte the first time I got it. I was so sure since I bought it from the boutique.
