Hello

I need your help with my next purchase…
I have been saving to buy one medium CF and was planning to get it as a gift to me for Christmas… I have always wanted this bag ever since I can remember but I have always postpone getting one… with the sky rocketing prices I sort of feel like it is now or never…
But I am now torn because I found a Chanel 19 in excellent like new conditions at a really great great price.

I think I might use the Chanel 19 more than the CF but I am afraid it is a trend bag and might end up regretting getting that and sort of giving up momentarily once againon the CF…

Please help!

You wanted CF "ever since I can remember", plus it is a classic and always will be, unlike 19. I would go with CF, no doubt, before another price increase.

It depends why you've always wanted the CF bag. Was it more so because of its longevity and classic appeal or because it fits really well into your wardrobe?
If, out of the 2 bags, you will wear the 19 more than I would go with the 19 :)

If you are thinking you will use the Chanel 19 more, you have answered your own question
& if price is a factor & the 19 is in excellent condition, what more can anyone say
Chanel bags for some are more trendy than others, it just comes down to personal preference

I think no one can ever go wrong with a CF. Classic is in the name! Understandably you are torn now, but I'm sure once you've acquired the bag, you'll be telling yourself how this was a no brainer kinda purchase.
I went back and forth on buying my CF. It is indeed expensive and such a purchase is not a decision I take lightly. In fact I went into the store tired it on a few times, then left the store because I couldn't bring myself to pay that kinda money for a bag. Next day my husband literally dragged me to the chanel boutique and made sure I purchase the bag. Now I look back and laugh at that time! And the prices have gone up multiple times since then.
Don't let a cheaper alternative bag distract you from your goal. I purchased 2 mini flap bags, just trying to convince myself that CF and mini flap are the same thing!

I was the same.. bought the classic flap after years of dreaming about it and I rarely use it due to my lifestyle. Do I regret it? Absolutely not, it's a must have bag for me even if I don't get to use it often. The price keep going up so I'm glad I got it when I did. But it certainly didn't fill the gaps in my collection and ended up getting more styles that are more useful for my day to day needs. If you're anything like me, your itch won't be satisfied until you have the CF!! I would put more thought towards the 19. If you like to stay on trend then spend wisely.

I’ve had my medium flap since 2017, whereas I just purchased a 19 in August. I can confidently say I’ve already used the 19 more times than the CF. it’s just a very wearable bag, appropriate for most situations, handle/crossbody use, while in my opinion the CF is a bit more “serious”. So if you’ve had your heart set on the classic for years, buy it, but if using it often is a priority, get the 19. I don’t necessarily regret buying my CF, especially since the price has doubled since, but I honestly don’t see myself reaching for it. Bottom line, you are correct, it is now or never. Prices will only keep increasing.

My feelings resonate with many on this thread.

The CF was on my wishlist for many years. When I pulled the trigger, I was so excited and nervous. It was probably one of the biggest luxury purchases I ever made at that time.
(Btw I specifically went for a pre-2007 CF because I wanted real gold-plated hardware, so it was shipped to me.)
When I received it, I guess I was happy? I didn't have an OMG wow! moment, not that I was expected to be blow away but I thought I would be a little more excited when I got it.
I'm still happy that I have it. However, like others have mentioned, it is one of the least used bags in my collection. Mostly for safety purposes. It is not a bag I will wear out alone because I don't want to risk my personal safety and well-being.
However, I also don't regret buying it. The only thing I may regret is the size. I got a small but I think a medium would have work better. Space-wise it fits just that bit more that I would like. And who knows, maybe if I got it in a medium I would use it more often. :P
At the end of the day, I'm glad I got it. I would definitely not pay post-pandemic prices.

I 100% agree with you. I also went for the small classic flap. It honestly holds only a tiny bit more than a mini flap and it's certainly heavier. I wish I went for the medium size. But I don't regret my purchase at all. It's a classic. And yes! I too worry about safety as I live in a big metropolitan city, so it's not used as often as I'd live.

Yes, exactly, it's because of the safety aspect more than anything. I feel overly cautious & stressed about my surroundings when I wear it, so it gets limited use. I wear my crossbody Chanel bags more freely.
