Help needed - Cleaning a gold bezel-set aquamarine ring?

I have a lovely 14k gold ring with a bezel-set aquamarine that really needs cleaning. The back of the bezel has a small opening and gunk has gotten in, so now the stone looks dull and cloudy :( I tried soaking the ring in a detergent solution and using a fine brush to get out the gunk, but I can't get it all out.

Would an ultrasonic cleaner work? I'm not sure what else I can do. Obviously I won't be wearing the ring 24/7 anymore :/

You can try an ultrasonic toothbrush if you have one or take the ring to a local jeweler to get cleaned.
