Hi ladies, I need help and advice. I bought a week ago a evil eyes diamonds bracelet. I order by phone from a jeweler in New York diamond district.
I met the owner once during my last trip to New York city. I'm from Montreal and I was so in love with the bracelet that when i came back I order it and paid 2200$ for 2.01c and 18k diamond bracelet. I start wearing it non stop since monday. Tonight I was looking at my wrist and one of the diamond eyes just pop out and I can't find it. I check everywhere but nothing...So I email the guy and he just told me that it's exactly the legend of the bracelet the eyes broke to protect me...I don't find this funny. He said he's gonna check with the importer. Now I'm afraid that the jeweler don't do anything for me.
Do you know if I have some protection if he doesn't want to help me?
I'm so sad and angry by that poor quality. Need advice please!!

no that's not the legend, and not at all funny. if you paid by credit card, call the card company and ask what your protection is, against breakage, shoddy workmanship, etc. you can even ask about charge-backs should you want to return the bracelet and the seller is unwilling to take it back.

or take it to a local jeweler and have the diamond replaced. it would be more out-of-pocket, but if the person you bought from is in NY and you're in another country, you may have problems getting it fixed by him. If you even want to deal with him again.

also, call the BBB if he doesn't satisfy you with a resolution.

Thank you Alliemia, I paid with credit card so I'm gonna ask them if I have some protection. What is BBB? What do you think about shipping ? Do I have to pay 75$ to send it and another 75$ to have it back. Is it normal to have all the charge for me?
thank you

i think if it broke after only a few days of normal wear, the seller should really send you a prepaid mailer to send it back at his expense. and then return it to you fixed.

if he's unwilling, i'd say take it to a local jeweler and pay for the repair. rather than $75 to ship both ways.

ask the seller for the money to have it repaired locally. if he doesn't want to help you out with that, then ask your credit card about what your options are.

Better business bureau is an agency you can report businesses for poor practices. and they often work to help you get a resolution.

Good idea! I'm gonna wait until tomorrow to see what he can do. It's not normal after one week of wearing a piece of jewelry to have it repair already. I don't find the evil eyes that I lost...And I don't know if a jeweler from here can do something like that it's a very particular piece. I keep you on track with this.thank!

That sounds like an intriguing piece of jewellery - sorry to hear about this.

I'd definitely follow up with your credit card company as well as BBB.
