Help! My clothes smell like an ashtray! :(

I heard that if you put your clothes in a ziplock, or any plastic bag, and then put in the freezer for a couple of days, that it will kill any bacteria and get rid of odor!!!? It was on the fashion channel, I can't remember who it was, but it was all about not wanting to wash something that wasn't dirty, but because it smelled bad!!

Good Luck, give it a try, I hope it works! I hate the smell of smoke, :yucky:, ~M~

Airing the clothes out for a while will help, even better if done outside.

i agree, this works best! sometimes the stank of smoke is so bad that febreze doesn't even work. i hang stuff outside, or in an enclosed porch or garage (ha, unless the garage is really stinky).

You're all right: waiting is key! My roommate just moved out, so i hung the clothes in her closet for a couple of days. (I live in a dorm, and even though we have outside walkways, putting clothes outside without getting them stolen is not an option)
Now they are virtually smoke free! (After literally soaking them in Febreeze, haha)

Thanks so much for the help! You all are lifesavers
I am thrilled that i can wear my new rag & bone pants again soon:yahoo:
