Hi, everyone I have been a member of Purseforum for quiet some time. Never thought of problem would hit me and I needed HELP!

So I have my mother sent me my bags from THAILAND to USA. Tho as she doesnt really know what is what. She just put used purses and under declared it.

My package went into CUSTOMS since FEB2, 2017 and they just me a letter on Saturday.

I have 2 LV BAGS, 2 WALLETS AND 2 CHANEL FLAP BAGS in there. Which would total about 8000$ or more.
Those are secondhand bags. So I dont have copy of receipt on some of them. I have some on LV but not Chanel.

I tried sending CBP emails but have not yet answered.

I contacted LOUIS VUITTON TRADEMARK REPS. And he said I could request CBP to send over pictures. So I am waiting on that.

Tho 'CHANEL' is no help. I called CHANEL TRADE MARK OFFICE and the assistant simply told me they do not authenticate or certify anything for anyone. And there is nothing they can do to help.

Do any one every experience with Customs and Chanel bags before?
Does anyone know where or who I can get in touch with for help?

Thank you in advance

I have no idea whether the bags were authentic or not but if the customs forms undervalued them, the customs officials assumed they're fake and that's why they were seized.

This is one of the risks of undervaluing and should serve as a warning to buyers who are unwilling to pay appropriate duties and ask sellers to lie on customs forms.

I have no idea how or to whom you would appeal this!

I'm assuming you are certain the bags are authentic and that you have some proof. I would call CBP and ask them what type of authentication and valuation they would accept. There was a very long thread on a similar situation but it was Australian customs, not US customs. Hopefully the bags can be recovered. I'm sure you will have to pay customs fees but it is better than having them confiscated. Good luck.

I am quiet sure myself that the bags are authentic. Thank you

So all the bags are second hand? Or just the Chanel? Where were they purchased?
Having copies of receipts isn't quite the same as having a receipt for a bag that you yourself purchased directly from a boutique. Receipts are very easily faked.
Being quite sure yourself that something is authentic isn't good enough as regards second hand goods.
While I see that most of your posts until now have been for LV authentications here on tPF, I didn't see any authentication requests here re Chanel. Where did you get those authenticated? If you have paid authentications for them from someone like Etinceler perhaps those could be submitted.

They are all second hand bags.
I got them from reputable seller and yes I paid to Realitycheckauthentications to look at my bags. They should come back with papers soon. I also send to Authenicatefirst and will send to eticeler too.

I just noticed that you mentioned that these were your bags, not a sale from Thailand. I don't know what US customs rules are for this type of thing. Maybe it is the same whether it is a sale or whether it is your own stuff being forwarded or maybe this is not eligible for customs fees. It is worth checking into.

True but that doesn't seem to be the issue regarding why the bags are being held. Based on the letter the OP received, they're held as suspected counterfeit items and not held pending payment of customs fees.

Hmmm. Thanks @poopsie for mentioning authentication requests.

Is one of the bags your mother sent #1 in this post which Lee deemed as fake? Although the pictures are no longer viewable in the 3-year old listing, this is the one Lee referred to as fake:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/AUTHENTIC-Louis-Vuitton-Damier-Speedy-Bandouliere-35-Retail-1410-/271503414555?rmvSB=true&hash=item3f36dd551b&pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&nma=true&si=HYccTfWv5OQJb%2BZqMZgbBqlf9VE%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
And Lee's post:

and Lshcat said the same thing:

Was that the same bag that was sold here?

Or was there another LV "inspired" bag similar to this one that is admitted to being fake?

No the bags that were in the package are not one of those you mentioned.
And not the ones I requested for authentication or items I am selling. Or any other in spired bag. Since that denim bag I got long ago found fake. I educated myself further more and know a lot more about LOUIS VUITTON AND CHANEL BAGS.

I have no idea why you would dig up the old unrelated post for this? Especially it was years ago.

The bags that were in the package are authentic and I already put in requests of Certificate of authenticity with REALITYCHECKAUTHENTICATIONS and *****************. Isnt that enough?
Or if you want to investigate further more I can bring dropbox links here so you can see?
