Hi All -

I'll be traveling through Europe this spring and want to purchase a Horizon 55 along the way. I've purchased in Rome and Milan and haven't had any problem getting the VAT back - so along with the price variance, it's almost a steal.

I'm wondering if it's more advantageous to purchase at FCO - do I get the full VAT back (22%) or just the more usual 7-15%? Also - does that mean I can take the price at the LV in Rome (3,000 Euro for the rainbow collection) then subtract 22% when/if I buy at FCO?

It looks like FCO gives the full VAT back so it's cheapest to hold out until I get to FCO? They seem to have a decent selection and hopefully that's true for luggage as well. I would love the fuchsia Horizon but I would consider other colors/styles as well. I don't think I'm aggressively beholden to a specific color combo.

Any cons to waiting until FCO to purchase? I'm hoping to only have my Speedy 35 or Keepall 45 with my as my only carry on - I know this will be quite a large box or I would need to skip the box... (Traveling first class so I have a lot of overhead storage available).

Thanks for any thoughts and recommendations.

The LV at the Rome airport is great! The staff is super kind and fun. I bought a bottle of perfume and it was 22% off the euro price which was less than the Us price. The SA there was super sweet, I have her contact info, she said to let her know next time I fly through Rome and if I’m looking for anything she’ll try to get it in if she can. That store was really well stocked too!

Also VAT refund in Rome for other things I bought was the fastest EVER. Wow. I love Italy. Sigh

How do you get the VAT refund if you purchase in other LV’s in Italy other than the airport? I’m going to Italy for the first time in August, so I would love any tips!
