Hi! I want to start my mini collection of watches. What do you guys think are the basic type of watches that I should prioritize buying next? Currently, I only have Tissot two tone watch and Daniel Wellington with bristol leather strap/nato strap. Then, I use a simple Mango watch for everyday use. I do not want to use expensive watches for everyday usage.

Daniel wellington watch that I have. Straps are interchangeable.

I do not have a pic of the mango watch but it is just a simple everyday watch.

I forgot! I also have this puma watch when I was in college but I no longer use Hahaha! I think it is no longer appropriate for my age. I am 27. Lol!

I would add an all-stainless watch and if you want, a rose gold watch for fun.

Love love love Movado. Personal preference though. My 30mm Movado museum watch with black face and stainless band (like your Tissot band) gets the most wear. It works for casual and dressy outfits and goes with everything.

I also like to wear yellow gold. A smaller sport watch in all yellow gold is the easiest for me to wear. I think it has a 26mm face and a band like your Tissot. The metal bands with lots of texture show fewer scratches and seem to be a little more comfortable.

Then there are apple or android watches.

At least one big watch. You may already have that.

I only have one leather band watch.

If you want one for dressy occasions you could look at a bangle watch. Movado has some. Mine is DKNY and the rectangular face is the same size as the bangle. I don't wear it that often because I am afraid of scratching it.

The more quartz watches you have, the more you will pay for batteries, especially if they are big and have a second hand.

There are tons of watches to look at, so make sure you love each one you buy. Otherwise you will end up buying batteries for watches you don't like that much.

I only have two watches, Movado and a Burberry so my vote is for those! I love Movado classic simple style and an all stainless color would be a nice addition to your collection. And Burberry check 34mm is my "big" watch. I found that MK 39 mms were much too big for my wrist.
Raymond Weil also has beautiful classics, and Michele has a beautiful rectangular face watch (and many others too).

Ooo! I love watch collections! I have a small (relatively? maybe I'm kidding myself?) collection, but mine is centered around fun and unique. So I do have Swatch, Fossil, Tag Heuer, Coach, and so on. The features like colors and metal type vary.

I have a good friend that collects tech style watches - ones with gadgetry galore, very James Bond-ish.

I have another friend that collects only Movado.

If you're looking for a well rounded collection, I say try Movado for a dressy watch and maybe Fossil for fun everyday watches. Make your collection uniquely you! (And share pictures!)

I suggest looking into swiss horology timpieces, especially those from Baume & Mercier. Very classic, clean, and classy look that can be dressed up or dressed down. Their latest line, Promesse, is very appealing to those looking for an everyday dressy watch.

It depends on what you want. My husband for example, collects vintage watches, specialized in IWC or Longines. But he also buys vintage watches which attracting his eye. I think a great collection is a collection you personally like. And it's not all about the money. There are many ways to extend a collection: auctions, estates sales, ebay or flea markets. But beware if you buy used watches. So many counterfeited watches are in circulation. Sometimes the faked watches are hard to identify. My husband bought a counterfeited Rolex watch - MADE OF 18K GOLD. Isn't that crazy?

That is really crazy!!! That is why I am scared of purchasing pre owned watches but sometimes the deals are just so tempting.

Yes and I tell you - some people own a luxury watch for decades and they don't know that it was counter-frighted. Even buying from a jeweler doesn't protect you. Not only because some dealers tend to act unreliable - I think it's more because they also don't know all about faked watches. I even know a jeweler very well and he recently told me that he had to go to a college to determine a stone he got. He was NOT sure if it was a zircon or a real diamond. Finally, it turned out that it was an approx. 3 carat diamond. Can you imagine that?

I lost my trust in dealers. My husband gained knowledge over years but this is only one step to avoid ripoff.

GOOD LUCK!

I think if you will buy luxury watches you should get it from the authorized retailer. Then, for low end watches, I think you can take the risk but ofcourse be skeptical when buying.
