I would love some input from the ladies here! After 10+ years with my ring, I finally got the courage to tell my husband that I’m not totally in love with the setting. He designed it custom with a jeweler, and honestly the ideas and concept are great, but the execution has just always felt off to me.

Details: it’s a gorgeous 1.24 ct cushion diamond, E color, VVS2 clarity. It has two 3x3 mm cushion side stones, set in a platinum channel band with 10 round diamonds.

What I love:
-The diamond is gorgeous
-I love the idea of a multistone ring, not just a simple solitaire.

What I don’t love:
- I feel like the diamond is set too low, it’s really hard to clean and the light doesn’t shine through enough
-don’t love the channel setting
- it just feels like the setting overall doesn’t complement the stones. Like they all compete with each other instead of work together to sparkle, if that makes sense?

I am all over the place on what I want. I thought about turning this into something else and getting a whole new lab diamond ring, since the cost will be comparable to re-set it, but I truly love my diamond and I still want to feel like it’s from him.

So basically, I’m looking for ways to “upgrade” my ring using my diamond (open to using my side diamonds too, or sourcing lab diamonds for the side stones)

I want the band to feel less clunky from a metal standpoint, but I am open to larger diamonds on the sides, so long as they sit lower than the center stone. Love the idea of a hidden halo or sparkle on the profile view.

I want classic with a modern update, style and sparkle. Not too dainty.

I’m also open to rose gold instead of platinum.

I don’t need to reuse my bands either, unless it all works out, but I don’t want to base the design on that.

Appreciate any inspiration and input! I’ll include some things I like below.

Some things I’m drawn to, but sort of want to combine multiple elements from each of these.

Love the Tiffany True setting (but not an actual T):

Saw this ring in a boutique and love the way the diamond is set up from the side diamonds:

I'd reset the basket and the side stones in a way you prefer -- then, and this is harsh and unsentimental, sorry, I'd take out the wedding band with the channel set and put those diamonds all the way around the band of the reset, reducing you to one great ring with an eternity feel. If you're going to reset the top one, make a set out of it, otherwise it will always look disjointed on your stack.

Your stones are gorgeous, but the channel set "set" is not working for you, as you said, you have two rings with that, not just one. I'm sorry if that is totally stomping on your sentimental rings, and I apologize.

That is super low , I can see why it bothers you. However my original engagement ring was set very high and it banged into everything, I couldn't wear gloves in winter with the ring on, it was annoying.
So just be cautious how high you reset the stone.
Yes, I knew always I didn't want a super high set ring, and I hate the look of just a diamond protruding out. But I think the jeweler went too far with the low setting.

Not stomping on anything at all! This is what I need, and honestly what I am not getting from jewelers I've met with so far (hence why I feel so lost).

My channel wedding band is not sentimental. I was just trying to get something to match the engagement ring.

The only thing sentimental is the center stone itself, and I am very open to all these ideas on how to re-use everything.

My rose gold baguette band is something I bought years ago to add to my stack because I was unhappy with it. And that ring fits on my right hand so can easily be removed from the set.

You could also make a solitaire with your engagement ring and use the small stones from all the channel set (and the separate channel set band) to pave the band on that, or the basket.

Then make earrings from the side stones. You can do a bigger, halo style setting if you feel like they are too small for studs.

What do you think about side stones and a hidden halo, like a combo of these two designs I've shared? Or is that too much?
I think it could work. But I'd talk to a jeweler and see if they can provide you with 3D digital sketches of both options, one with side stones and one without. Personally I tend to prefer no side stones and just the main stone and pave band, but side stones can certainly be pretty when set properly

Would you consider a trellis setting for the 3 stones? It's not too high nor too low.

Have fun exploring options. Planning is the fun bit!

Thanks for the suggestion! I don't love the curved lines of this setting. I think I'm drawn to sharper lines and more geometric, not to much metal detail on the profile, if that makes sense.
