I know that these are totally different bags but I’ve been so indecisive on which bag to buy. Which one will be a timeless bag and not just a trendy bag. I love how the prada one you can wear it dressed up or down with the cross body.
They’re both beautiful I want both but I can only choose one. Help

In my highly personal opinion I'd say the YSL one, firstly it's leather, secondly I just thinks it looks less dated. The Prada one looks like the 90s/00s and I don't understand why we want to bring that back:yucky:. But we all like different things.

I also vote YSL. It’s more classic. You can choose black with silver hardware to go day to night. Which one makes you smile more?

If you're going for a timeless look regardless of what you want to use it for and how much stuff you want to fit into a bag, then I'd go with YSL.

- Personally I'd go for leather over nylon for a classic bag (though, Prada nylon is timeless to the house itself).
- The chevron stitching is very very timeless and classic, as seen with many other luxury brands most noticeably with Chanel but also Gucci, and Givenchy.
- The YSL logo has been there right front the beginning when Cassandra drew the logo for Mr. Saint Laurent and it has basically not changed over the years (unlike Dior for example). And the way the logo is placed is pretty much the same for all YSL bags, usually right in the center, used as the bag closure. (Not saying Prada's logo is not timeless, YSL's logo is very integrated in the look and design of the bag, For the Prada re-issue, it's small and not as noticeable.)

On a side note, just be aware of what you want to use your bag for and what you carry on a daily basis.
The Prada can definitely fit more (I don't have the nylon version, but I have the leather version).
I currently have 3 YSL bags and have owned 3 others in the past. From my experience YSL bags with grained leather (not talking about the loulou and puffer bags) (1) tend to run small and (2) the leather, while very durable and longwearing, is quite stiff, will not stretch over time, so there is generally less room for items because the leather will not give way (or will only stretch just a little bit).

Just some food for thought!
They are pretty different bags so I can see how it can be a hard decision. Good luck!

Between these two, I'd choose the Prada. It has an ease of wear that will have you reaching for it as your grab and go bag over and over. The YSL is a more opinionated bag and the gold chain will be playing a part in your whole look. They are both great bags however, I recently got a Re-Nylon Prada and all I can think is, what took me so long?

I have the Ysl camera bag in black and silver and I actually never use it.
I’m just indecisive ‍♀️

Do you wear your prada one often? And do you think that one will go out of style ?

Regarding bags going out of style, if you considering classic or iconic designs, that becomes far less important. Though my experience with classics, you may grow bored and want to change it up once in a while. This whole forum is dedicated to collections of handbags. One handbag will never be enough. We switch out our bags at least seasonally if not on a daily or weekly basis, switch out from within our own collections that is.

What other bags do you currently have? Will this bag be a big step up in price from the others?

That’s true. I have the lv pouchette, felice pouchette, Ysl camera bag, Gucci Sukey.
And I don’t really wear any of them often unless I’m going out during the evening time.

If you're looking for timeless, definitely YSL. Prada is definitely trendier, and this style (multipochette) is arguably on its way out (if not already out).

That said, my Prada Re-edition (exact bag as the first pic) is the bag I have used the most out of my designer bags. I bought it when it came out though, so it's nowhere near the current price. Honestly, I'll probably hesitate to buy it at it's current price. But that's also true for my Saint Laurents.

The YSL is definitely more timeless imo, and I've worn mine with everything from cocktail dresses to jeans and a tee, it's so versatile! I love how it actually makes my whole outfit look more put together too, but in an effortless chic kinda way if that makes sense.

Do you want another bag for when you are dressed up or going somewhere special? Or do you want a bag to incorporate more into your day to day styling? Why don't you do that already with the bags you have?

I’m always on the go with the kids and dogs and I actually never dress up, I’m always in sweats or work out clothes.
I should use them more often shouldn’t I..

It's up to you. I think this Prada bag would work well for you. I think having placed your initial post in the Saint Laurent forum, answers will be skewed in that direction. Good luck! and let us know what you decide.
