Hi!! I am contemplating between two designer bags and I would appreciate any suggestions to help me decide.
I am torn between the Alma BB in Epi Noir and the Gucci Dionysus in small.

For reference, this is about to be my 2nd designer bag. I have a Mulberry Alexa in grey which I adore. I love both crossbody as well as shoulder bags and I’m looking for a bag that I can carry pretty much anywhere (dinner, casual brunches, events, etc.) and one that I can enjoy for many years to come.

This is probably going to be my only big purchase for a while so it’s such a hard decision to make. I have always wanted to own a bag from Louis Vuitton but the Dionysus has been an item that I’ve coveted for a while. I know that LV tends to increase their prices frequently but is it the same for Gucci?

I am aware that Gucci is largely seen as a trendy brand but the Dionysus is probably the only bag I will ever get from them. Since I won’t be able to get both, I was just wondering if it’s more worth it to go for something of all-leather and a design I love rather than the canvas?

I’d appreciate any feedback. Thanks so much in advance!!

My first bag was the Gucci matelasse wallet on a chain and I love it! As far as trendy goes if you think you’re going to use it a lot then don’t listen to other people thinking it’s trendy. Plus, the tan is so usable and beautiful. The one thing I will say is the the Gucci Dionysus the suede is super gentle she be careful with that since it’s a light color.

Based on your planned uses I say the Alma bb. I think it can be dressed up or down and the epi leather has an understated elegance although I love the dionysus too. My choice is based off of your stated purpose.

The Dionysus comes in leather versions too if you prefer and I'm all in favour in the Small size. It will forever be a fabulous and classic flap bag with special hardware.

I like the Epi Alma (adore the shape) but it's not going anywhere so I'd def get the Gucci first.

If you’re only going to 1 of these in your collection, I’d go for the Alma. I have both and love both but the Alma is a classic, fits a lot for its size, and can be worn hand held, cross body, and over the shoulder. I honestly wish the Dionysus could be worn cross body... that’s my only negative about this bag. Touch decision because they’re both great bags.
