Hi my fellow purse lovers,

I have now completed my MJ handbag frenzy. I can now look through e-bay and not want to bid on every item I see!

I am now on a new mission - to find a zip clutch or a wallet (one in the same)? I am new to this arena, so I will need help from all the expert veterans. I currently use a mans Gucci billfold for my credit cards and money. I also use a quilted MJ keychain holder as a change purse. I see so many beautiful wallet type items but have not done any research on these. I am open to colors and ideas...if you have pics of your own, please post them for me!

I feel a lot like you--my bag collection is starting to round out and I don't jump on every new ebay find either. So I started looking at the SLGs too. There are so many different styles.
Aside from the ZC, the two that I was looking at recently are the long Reena-type wallet, which I just posted today:
http://forum.purseblog.com/marc-jac...ase-plus-overdue-pics-362346.html#post8077122
And the long grey wallet at Bloomies:
http://forum.purseblog.com/marc-jac...other-than-key-coin-345889-3.html#post7642970
Both have a flap to lift, so that's a consideration, whether you'd like that or not. The blue long wallet that I bought is a lot lighter than a ZC--definitely a plus.
I love my ZCs but I personally haven't found a good use for the two little pockets (some people put change in there--I put my change in the zip pocket), so I feel like it's empty space.

Also note some (or all?) of the quilted ZC's (e.g. Spring 08) don't have a back slit pocket, which is very handy, while the patchwork ones don't have a zip pocket.

And check out the rest of this thread for other wallets:

Let us know what you decide!

i love the zip clutch!!!! mj has made some less-expensive alternatives with the totally turnlock zip clutch and the softy zip clutch (both are under $200)...same functionality as the collection zcs but just a bit less $$. ;)

I truly love my ZCs and have plans to add one or two more (waiting for resort colors!) -- they are wonderful for organization, with four open pockets inside, 6 cc slots, a zippered pocket on the front (which I find is plenty large enough to hold change and I usually carry A LOT of change!), an open pocket on the backside (great for coupons, but which is strangely missing from current ZCs??) and two padlock pockets on the front (perfect for small items you don't want to loose - like earrings, rings or other small items (I keep my lucky pennies in there!)), with addtl pocket space BEHIND the padlock pockets!!

I recommend a pretty color -- something that will POP inside of your bags. Of course, there are some who prefer black or brown becuz they want something to go with every bag -- I don't worry about matching my bag/wallet, which is why I like the brighter colored ZCs. They're also large enough to use as a clutch or all by itself when going out for the evening or quick trips to the store/gas station.

I also have a Wristlet Wallet (which was also called a Zip Around Wallet -- which makes no sense, since it doesn't zip around!). It's exactly like a ZC on the inside except it has an addtl zippered pocket for change (instead of on the outside like the ZC) and no pocket on the backside. It also comes with a detachable wrist strap so that you could use it as a clutch/wristlet (it's large enough to hold a cell phone or Blackberry)

there's also the smaller Billfold -- I have an older one that I use when I use my smaller bags (like now, when I'm using my Cubie). The Billfolds have a slot for currency, a snap pocket for change, 6 cc slots that are in a separate section that snaps and three open pockets. Not really large enough to use as a clutch, but the perfect size for smaller bags or when you want more room inside your purse.

of course, there are several other styles -- I'm actually thinking about the quilted Long Wallet that Bloomingdales has on its website -- it looks about the same size as the ZC but w/o the padlock pockets on the front (I imagine it's probably a lot lighter weight) as well as a few other long and short styles.

here is a pic of my MJ wallets -- I hope this helps in your decision!! Good Luck:tup:

p.s. I also have an Agenda, which can also be used as a wallet -- all you have to do is buy the things you want/need inside, i.e., clear plastic cc holders, a zippered pouch for loose change/currency as well as diary/calendar pages -- there are 3 cc slots inside the Agenda as well as two open pockets

Thanks roommommy! This was very helpful - I can't understand why all the choices on zc's and wallets make my head spin....I think there are too many choices. I do like the long grey quilted one with the cardholders. I think I will look for something like this!

O.k. I am narrowing down my decision. I love the look of your teal one, but I don't think I will use the front pockets. I like the long black one and the purple!

do you mean my Purple one or the Purple ZC on Bloomie's?
My purple one is the Wristlet Wallet I mentioned in my post (it's Plum from S/S08)

ETA: here's a pic of the inside, just in case

You will be amazed at how handy the two front pockets are. I use one to put a hair tie and some bobby pins in (i usually wear my hair down so i never know when it will come in handy) and the other one i usually have a necklace or a pair of earings in there. I have even been known to put tic tacs and gum in there too!

Thanks Starlett, I didn't even think of that. I usually put my hair ties and bobby pins in my coin purse. Good thinking!
