i already have the diamonds I will be talking about. I want to reset or upgrade. There is no man involved - just me! Oval was my engagement ring when I was married. Cushion cut was purchased by my mom which she later gave to me.

The cushion cut in platinum - I really love the color of the diamond and platinum but feel the diamonds around it need to be bigger to do it justice. I could increase the size of the halo and/or add 2 round approx 1/3 c side stones which I already have (example pic to follow).

The oval in yellow gold I absolutely love, but would rather have in platinum, and I could trade in both rings for the new setting with bigger halo diamonds plus a whiter diamond.

I could leave out the side stones in the example and use them in their own ring.

Since I already have two other diamonds approx 1/3 c each, old mine cut antique, I could leave them out of the other 2 rings and make them into their own ring like this:

Ready go!

I would trade in both rings to get one nicer piece. The oval is very yellow and any other diamonds you add will just make the oval yellow. I can see be yellow in the oval now against the smaller diamonds. The cushion... you want a bigger look but by adding a bigger halo, it will just look like you have a small cushion and want a bigger look, and too much halo to me cheapens the center stone.

From how you describe what you want, my opinion is that you are trying to make things work with what you have.

For me, I would trade in/sell to get exactly what I want. I would not create a Frankenstein ring (Figure of speech) when the heart wants something else.

I think a new, nicer and bigger ring is what I would do.

I once had a hodge podge of smaller diamonds and thought for years how to make a big ring. The sizes were off and the colors did not match what I wanted. In the end, I got rid of all of it and got something I really loved.

Good luck!
