Hi ladies,

I'm a Chanel girl but my mom's into Hermès. She has a couple of bags (mainly Kellys, I think...) but I've never really asked her about them! :sweatdrop: I think she has hinted that she would like to receive a Birkin for X'mas but I'm a total Hermès newbie (all I am sure of is the bags are TDF, something to look forward to when I'm done with college, LOL) so I'm not sure about size, color, hardware, prices... etc. I've read some of the reference threads, so now I'm thinking something like a 35 cm Birkin in Potiron Orange Leather with gold hardware since her bags are mostly black/brown/beige?? Would I be able to purchase this bag without having bought any bags from Hermès before, just by walking into the boutique and asking for it? (I believe there's one in downtown SF.) What is the price for it in the US? I want to be prepared for it. :p Sorry for asking so many questions, please help this ignorant newbie over here! :push:

Gee, with so many ladies here at the Hermès forum I would think there'd be some who are actually enlightened enough to share... :wondering:sad: Anyone who has any :idea:, please advise! :smile1:

Edit: Okay I just saw your post ladyhermes, we posted at the same time... I couldn't find what I needed to know from that thread though. Thanks for replying though!

Hi fleur-de-lys, you will definitely find the price of a 35 birkin in the price ref thread.

Now with regards to being able to buy a bag off the shelf walking into the shop, you might get lucky but I would think from reading the experiences of fellow tpf'ers that except for a very few shops this is virtually impossible. Why don't you do a forum search on San Francisco to see what others have to say about that particular shop?

My advice: go to the shop, befriend an SA, explain what you're up to, and ask about the bag you're looking for. My experience is that H SAs are usually very friendly and helpful and will try and facilitate your search.

Since your mom has black / brown / beige bags, I kind of think Potiron would be too bright for her liking. Perhaps a Bleu de Prusse, Indigo, or Rouge H maybe better suited for her.

Yes, there are prices of 35 Birkins in that thread but I'm not sure if the one I'm looking for with the different leather and color and such (as the ones listed) would translate into a different price. :confused1: Thanks for your advice, I guess I have to try my luck.

I think this color's better for her because the orange has brown tones in it so it's not far from what she's used to and being the brighter color it will jazz up her look a little. Thanks for the suggestion anyway!
