Dear Jewellery Lovers,
I'd like to turn my 3 stone (.42tct) YG DBTY necklace into a bracelet since I have a .40ct single stone YG DBTY that I prefer to wear as a necklace. Tiffany has just come back with an estimate and my 2 options are:
A) Add 2 more stones of equal size to make a 5 stone DBTY bracelet at a cost of $1866.
B) Turn the 3 stone necklace into a 3 stone bracelet at a cost of $50.

My dilemma: I'd love to have the 5 stone option but I'm wondering if it is really worth the extra cost ($$). I've never worn a DBTY bracelet so I'm a bit worried about its delicacy, and losing one that I've paid so much for is not a happy thought.
But then I wonder if 3 stones will give me enough sparkle or if I'll just regret not getting the 5 stone option. However, with $1800 I could probably get myself another, platinum DBTY;)... decisions, decisions... so I turn to you, the experts for help and advice.
P.S. I do not really ever post but I read this forum every day, you have inspired, educated and comforted me during many, many sleepless nights ( I have 3 kids under the age of 5). Thank you!

I would keep it a 3 stone. It seems steep to me to add two stones for another $2K. If you space close, you can have them all sit on the wrist together to get the sparkle. Kinda like a half eternity. just me.

WOAH!! What a huge difference in price. I'm one for saving money where
I can :graucho: and you would probably stack it with other diamonds bracelets....right?

Plan B for sure and spend the extra on a 3 station platinum bracelet. That way, you would have 6 stones in total and you have the option of just wearing one or two bracelets.

Thanks to those who replied:

Candice0985: thanks for letting me know about your 3 station dbty, it's great to know that there is always a diamond visible so there's always that wonderful Tiffany sparkle in sight.

Annam: thanks for suggesting the diamond placement, I hadn't thought of that combination.

MatAllston: fantastic idea! I just checked the platinum dbty bracelet prices online and a 3 stone (.15tct) is indeed less than getting the 2 extra stones.

Thanks again for helping me make a sensible solution. I had just received the call from Tiffany's and I suppose the lure of 5 diamonds was just too tempting; but I do agree that the money is better spent elsewhere (on more jewellery of course!):D

tough decision! i have a 6 station dbty bracelet made of 0.1 ct stones that i had custom made from BGD. I preferred the look of 6 over 5 (or 3) as there would always be 3 diamonds on the top of my wrist which is the look i preferred. given that it's tiffany's, the price is quite steep so you just have to decide which overall look you are going for! you can always go to your local tiffany's to try on the different station dbty bracelets. what is the spacing of your stones, would it be fairly evenly spaced on a bracelet? best of luck in your decision!

Mine is 3-stone (each around 0.4, used to be studs) dbty style bracelet. I love it! I have a Tiffany dbty necklace, too. I don't think dbty stye is fragile at all. I wear my 3-stone bracelet 24/7 sometimes. 3-stone is enough, especially 0.4 in dbty desgin looks quite big, but if you can I recommend you get 5-stone one!;)

Love your dbty - I think the stones are a perfect size. But I must agree that more diamonds can't be a bad thing :)

Thanks Designpurchaser!:p I really love RG + WG combo! So cool and elegant!!!;)

Thanks Cartierangel! Yes, I think so. I want to remodel mine into 5-stone if I find good stones. Not necessariy diamonds. Two blue or pink sapphires wuld be great!:D

I agree with others on taking the 3-stones option. I also had my 3-stone DBTY bracelet made and I wear it everyday (I have two kids 3 and 5) in 14kt WG and I don't have any issue. I wear doing house cleaning too. My size stones are comparable to yours.

einseine: Your stack is absolutely STUNNING!

bagladyseattle: GORGEOUS!

Such beautiful inspirations... thank you all for your help! I have since called Tiffany and told them to go ahead with the 3 stone option, which means a little $$ for more purchases!
