help me decide - YSL Toy LouLou vs. Chanel Mini Rectangular

HEY!


Lately, I have been very into brown bags, as I find black too harsh sometimes.
As much as I love nudes / beiges, I am very scared of getting my bag dirty - so a dark brown is the perfect carefree shade for me.

I am looking for a bag with GHW and am torn between the YSL Toy Loulou and the Chanel Mini.

For the Saint Laurent bag, I would definitely try to find a matching antique gold chain & brown leather woven strap.

I really cannot decide. But I ask myself: is the Chanel bag really worth it? I mean,... the price point is ridiculous! And for the price of only 1 Chanel I could nearly buy 4(!) Toy LouLous.


What are your thoughts?

I personally have always preferred the style of the Toy Loulou and the quality you get is still really high and have debated getting one for myself for(I am more of a casual crossbody type). I would ask what you’re planning on using the bag for. If it’s more formal occasions or as an evening bag, then Chanel fits that bill better, but if you’re looking for a carefree day to day bag I would go YSL (esp as the Chanel looks to be in Lambskin). The option of a leather strap can help make it look more dressed down.

It could also be the photos but the YSL seems to have a warmer undertone of espresso brown compared to the Chanel. Which tone fits in better with your wardrobe is also an option to consider which could determine how often you reach for it. And also which fits the most with your style.

Also if it’s not a bag you’re planning on selling on in future, I would look at the styles of the bags without the label. Which attracts you more?

All this being said, they’re both what I consider to be classic styles for the brands. Go with the one you like the best and think would fit in the most seamlessly with your lifestyle and wardrobe, especially if you can comfortably afford either one.

I would get the YSL. The YSL is the better value, and is highly useable and well-made, too. The Chanel is more drool-worthy and special rather than useful.

It depends. If you are looking more for an everyday bag then I would get the YSL. If you are thinking of bringing this bag for special events then definitely the Chanel. The chanel mini bag is pretty good for everyday as well if you dont carry to many things daily. I perfer the chanel. Since its just like one of the classic flaps it looks super classy and you can dress it up or down. Hope you find the perfect bag!

Personally, i prefer the Chanel mini. I use it both casually and formally. And they also continue to go up in price, so i would buy sooner rather than later. (not sure if SL has any price increases, I assume they do?)

Only issue with the mini, it will literally only fit your phone, card holder, and keys.
