Help me decide: Should I replace the vachetta on my green denim bag?

Hello everyone!

I have a green denim bag I bought pre owned a few years ago. I made the mistake of wiping it with baby wipes to clean it when I first purchased it. It changed the vachetta a honey brown color instead of a nice peachy pink patina it had. ☹️ I was so disappointed in the change in color from the baby wipes.

The vachetta also arrived very dry and stained from the metal clasps. I have since conditioned it but you can still see the dryness.

I was thinking of getting the vachetta replaced at LV. I wonder how much it would cost and if it would be worth while.

Would you change the vachetta if you were me? Or enjoy it as is?

I would read tutorials on how to clean it and remove the ink mark. It is not difficult to do and you can waterproof it for future use too.

It doesn’t look too bad. I’ve used saddle soap on my bags and it cleans vachetta pretty well. Not sure about pen though. It comes down to if you want to make the investment and how bad it bothers you lol

I would use it as is. It still looks on the light side.

If you aren’t using this beauty due to being unhappy with the vachetta, I’d have it replaced. I have this bag in blue, bought new many years ago. It’s such a great bag, one of my very favorites. My vachetta is still very light and in great condition. I love the soft, pliable strap. Mine started to get the black where the hardware meets the strap. I caught it early and it cleaned up nicely. My tip is unfasten the strap completely when storing. It’s worked great for me.

Why not get a quote to satisfy your curiosity? I had the vachetta changed on my Neverfull PM a few years ago and it was reasonable but some pieces are too expensive to be worth it.

I voted for yes. Not because I think that your bag is in bad condition but purely because I simply really like the bag and the more life you can get out of it the better. Personally Ive had the leather on several bags replaced and have always loved the results very much!

Thank you everyone for the advice! It’s getting warmer where I live, and I will enjoy it as is for now and get it replaced during the cooler months!

I would for sure. Once you get it back, it will literally look like a brand new bag. It's a gorgeous bag, and I think with nice, light brand new vachetta, it'll be amazing! I've had full vachetta replaced on both my Speedy 40 and my Noé. Trust me, you won't regret it. I am so glad I did it.
