I bought my first Saint Laurent items this week from Farfetch! Now, I’ve never been a big wallet person because I typically carry small cross bodies and don’t carry cash, but looooovee the look of large wallets. Plus, I do carry totes (in non Covid times) and could use it there. I got a card holder too for use with my smaller bags...which brings me to my question...

Should my next purchase be the Envelope Large or the Cassandra Monogram Clasp (the one without the top handle)?

I loooooove the Cassandra without the top handle, but the largest size is a Medium, which is too small for my new wallet. And honestly, I have a very similar Tory Burch bag (+ two other bags that size). But I’m in love with the clasp and the stud detailing on the side.

I also really like the Envelope. Not the biggest fan of the mixed pattern, but I like it well enough. The large size would fill a gap in my collection and would fit my large wallet.

I think that at some point, I would like to get both. But I’m trying to figure out what I should get next (for my birthday next Monday). Another consideration would be the color. I love both the black and the beige versions of this. But with the Cassandra, I was also considering one of the red colors...

Anyway, thanks for reading and all suggestions would be welcome!

Аs for me, Envelope Large - the best bag. I have black with silver hardware and it’s so classic and at the same time looks perfect with casual outfit. This bag is more spacious and more versatile.
As for Cassandra, for me this model is not as comfortable as Envelope and even as Cassandra mini (I chose between these two for a long time and took the red mini). Also for me this bag is more dressy and for evening because of the chain strap.

This is only my opinion, you need to analyze your wardrobe and aims for future bag. Hope you’ll make the right decision for yourself. Good luck!

Thanks for the insight! What makes the Envelope more comfortable? And do you ever wear it crossbody?

Large Envelope ftw! I believe it’s the longest surviving bag for the Saint Laurent era (if I am not wrong it was released earlier than Sac De Jour and Kate).

There are good reasons behind why it is still in store till now- it’s versatility to go from day to night (despite its size), the functionality (the exterior back pocket!!).

I doubt that the Envelope could be used as a crossbody (I tried it on before in the store), and usually due to the size it’s recommended to be used double-chain (like the Chanel Jumbo/Maxi). The Cassandra is nice but to me it’s too small and mainly an evening bag.
