Help me decide: Baby Sac de jour w/ handle wear

Hello! I’d love to know what everyone thinks :)

I’m considering the SDJ linked below. It’s $1,550 CAD (roughly 1,120 USD). They’ll do a bag spa to touch up the wear on the handles.

I’ve already asked for a better picture of the date code, but does anyone know what year YSL was doing a fabric lining on these bags? I got one in ~2020 that was leather lined with the removable middle pouch so not sure if this is older or newer…

Anyway - is it a bad idea to purchase a bag which so much wear in the handles, or no because it’ll be touched up?

Who is doing the handle touch ups, what experience do they have? How do they plan to touch it up ( repaint the leather or something else)? What happens if you still don't think the handles look good after the touch up are you obligated to take the bag anyway? If the touch up wears off quickly will they redo it?

Luxe du jour would do the touch ups - this is a separate service they offer but would include with the purchase of this bag. It would be a repaint of the leather and they’ll include a custom touch up pen for future use. The bag is final sale, so yes I would be obligated to take/keep it.

I don’t have really have any experience in bags that are touched up so not really sure what to expect around longevity to be honest. Is re-painting prone to wearing off? (Guessing yes to some degree?)

That said, I just purchased a Diorama from them that had MINIMAL corner wear that they touched up. It looks good but I’ve only had it a couple of weeks so no idea how it’ll hold up.

How much would they charge you for touching up the wear on the handles?

Good question…I like the colour and the style. I do personally feel it’s priced a bit high for the wear, and what I think it’s age is (guessing ~2015/2016) - and that’s why I was interested in other opinions in case this was actually seen as a decent price.

yeah, it's not the hotter sale of YSL style now.
