I am looking for my first VCA Alhambra piece.
1) Hammered YG Vintage Necklace
2) Guilloiche YG Vintage Necklace
3) Pave WG Sweet Alhambra
4) MOP YG Sweet Alhambra (as a starter piece to test everything)
I do not habe a Boutique nearby.
I ordered the onxy Vintage one and it had already a scatch, so I returned it

Did you like the size of the vintage onyx that you returned? I wouldn’t buy mother of Pearl but I don’t like having to worry about the delicate nature of things. I do like the sweet diamond stuff. It’s pretty. But for presence I’d say hammered or guilloche. Hammered or sweet pave if you are at all hard on your jewelry to want to be more care free. I wouldn’t trust myself with guilloche unless it was something like earrings but some say they don’t have issues with it.

Looking at your list it seems like you prefer YG? Personally I love pave WG sweet but I'm just not sure how versatile it is to go with the rest of your jewelry pieces. Another vote would be YG guilloche. I have a WG guilloche pendant and honestly haven't experience any issue at all, unlike my friends' 5 motif, which show a lot of scratches and dirty

I wear in one day YG on the other WG. I liked the Vintage Onyx but the scratch in the beginning on this piece was a big NO for me. This is the reason why there is just one stone in my List…

Gotcha! Then yeah the sweet pave WG would be my top choice, follow by the YG guilloche. Onyx is supposed to be way more hardwearing than MoP, if there's a scratch on it, the MoP will be even more delicate because it's not just the scratches, but depending on what it's exposed to it may lose the shine overtime, which cost around $200 to replace it. All the diamond and gold pieces you won't have to worry about baby it or taking them off for shower

In theory guilloche is prone to scratches (not like the stones, but just fine scratches) and once that happened it can't be repaired or replaced. But being worn as pendant it really reduces the chance of it rubbing against hard surfaces that result in scratches like the 5 motif bracelet, which many people tend to stack it with other bracelets/bangles and touching things so gunk and dirt will accumulate much quicker than a pendant. My WG guilloche pendant still looks brand new after owning it for over 2 years now. Hammered is definitely more hardwearing than guilloche and if something happened to it, I believe it can be repaired (other members can confirm this) but I have yet to heard anyone needing to repair their hammered pieces.

I will recommend hammered as it is most carefree and you can easily put it in ultrasonic cleaner to clean it by yourself. I wouldn’t recommend doing the same for paved pieces though.

I started with vintage but prefer sweet size for daily wear.

thanks to everybody for all of your answers and help. I will buy the Hammered but think about the others for Christmas
If you are thinking about Christmas, the Vintage Guilloche Alhambra earrings are wonderful and available in either YG or WG. I found the hammered Alhambra got lost on me, possibly because I have long hair. Just a thought.
