I have both of these bags (PM in black empreinte, Lou in black w/SHW), and I love them both, but they’re very different. I got my Lou 3 years ago, and it still looks great. It’s lightweight, roomy, the leather is lovely, and it’s a beautiful bag that is much less casual looking than the PM you posted. The PM is one of my newer bags (just got it in November) - so I can’t speak to durability - but it’s also extremely spacious (holds all of my essentials, with room to spare), lightweight and attractive. It definitely doesn’t feel as “luxurious“ as the Lou, or my other purses (leather quality feels a little cheap, and the construction is a little sloppy), but it’s a great everyday bag, and I do love it.
I guess what it comes down to, is, what are you looking for? To me, the PM is a much more casual, everyday bag. The Lou, while also a great daily-use bag, is a bit dressier. I wouldn’t take my PM to a dinner, or nice evening out, but I would (and have) use my Lou!

Thanks for the reply! I'm not one to purchase a designer bad super often. I do every few years. My last purchase was the Siena MM. I have used and loved the bag! I am transitioning from carrying a larger Kate Spade tote that allow me to carry all of my littles things. I am looking for something that will wear nicely that I can use for pretty much any of us ion that does not scream I'm a tired mom most of my life!!!! . Your input was super helpful!

Given that you have a larger KS tote, I personally would go for the Lou, 100%. It’ll still fit your essentials (lol, I guess that’s an unfair statement, given that we all have different views on what essential is!), and it really is a beautiful bag. You won’t have to baby the crap out of it either, because the leather is very durable. Not to make your decision more difficult, but have you considered the YSL loulou?
We have similar taste! I was initially dead set on the college - the Loulou looked a little odd to me in pictures, but after seeing them both in person, the Loulou was the clear winner. I have the small, and it holds basically the same amount as the Lou (maybe a tiny but more), and because it has the chain strap, it works great from day to night. Just like the Lou, the leather is really nice, and the bag is gorgeous. I’ve had my Loulou for 2.5 years now, and it still looks very good, but there is a little area by the flap closure where the leather has gotten a bit scuffed. I know scratches and scuffs happen, but they haven’t happened to my Lou…
What color to you have in the Lou camera and Loulou? Does the Loulou lose its share after use and become super slouchy? That is what I would fear?
Both bags are black w/SHW. I’m a little boring when it comes to the color of my purses, I like to stick to the classics!
My Loulou has not lost its shape, but my Lou has developed the puffy top that so many other owners have encountered.
I would check out the loulou lovers thread, I’m not sure if others have run into the Loulou losing its shape. The college, on
the other hand, I’ve seen firsthand, and I was not happy with how it looked.

The Pochette is prettier, more unique looking. The Lou looks common.

Pochette Metis- in leather it looks very elegant and is a piece you can transition from day to night.
