Hi guys,
Thanks so much for reading this post. I am pretty new to the Chanel world and I am bit struggling to decide which one among these that I should purchase. The Chanel small boy bag is so pretty but it’s so expensive. The small vanity case is cute as well. If anyone is carrying one of these, can you tell me if you like it or not. Thank you so much!

I don’t own a boy. But I own a medium vanity case. Here’s my 2c based on research/ experience. When I was considering the Boy as my first purchase, I didn’t like: 1- price, of course,versus size. 2- I had a budget and the small was not worth it for me. At the time I decided to go with another bag. I had just started with Chanel and didn’t know much. The more I grew into the brand, I realized that the Boy was not for me. 2- my SA said that corners wear terribly. 3- chain is very chunky and I have a small frame
After a few bags from Chanel, years later, I lost interest for the Boy
I bought my medium vanity case last Christmas and I love it to death. I chose the medium because the small was really small. I still love and I don’t regret one bit
Long story short, I vote for the VC. Good luck

I have the vanity in medium, bought it May 2019? Anyway, I really like the bag and have been enjoying it. It carries the bare minimum for me (phone, compact wallet, keys, and a small cosmetic pouch). I'm waiting for a large to come out in a color I like, since it would be nice to have the vanity carry more things.

Not a fan of the boy bag. I used to think they were nice, until I saw it in person. Don't like how the bottom is made of two pieces of leather, and I think the oversized strap chain is tacky. I also think those pearls are unnecessary and cheapen the bag.

Have you considered the classic flap? Yeah, it's a basic piece, but it's popular for a reason.

I have the medium vanity case and love it, so that's what I vote for. It's a very sturdy bag; wears well and I don't have to baby it. The medium fits a surprising amount of stuff (I don't carry a lot so I have space left over). Plus, I personally love the vintage, retro lunch box vibes it has; it's just so cute and practical IMHO. I also like that it is not as popular as the classic flap or boy bag; I've never run into anyone else carrying it in person and I live in a big city. I see the classic flaps all the time when I'm out and about and at events which is fine, but I personally feel a little more unique when I carry my vanity case. I don't dislike the boy bag per se, but I don't love it, and I watch a YT video where Sophie Shohet talks about how she regrets purchasing the boy/wouldn't purchase it again b/c she doesn't think the quality justifies the price. The one you posted above is pretty, but like everyone else has said, I would be super worried about the pearls falling off/snagging on things/scratching, plus color transfer, dirt, and smudges showing up. I think you'd have to baby that particular boy a lot more than a VC.

I have a lambskin boy that I feel the need to baby, and with the pearls it seems like you would really have to baby the boy. I personally like the style with the pearls, but I think the vanity case is more wearable and more durable (though I don't have one so can't speak from experience).
