I always thought I wanted a diamond band but when I tried one, I felt it didn't make my engagement ring pop and it just blended in.

So now I'm trying to decide between a hammered band which I love and makes my ER pop and is unique but I worry would look dull over time.

Or a half and half offset ring (bottom half diamonds, top half plain platinum) so I've got the sparkle of diamonds but a thin gap of platinum to help the ER show. But it's not as unique as the hammered look.

Our jeweller made a hammered prototype in silver just so I can get an idea. Final ring would be platinum.

I've posted 2 pictures of each from different angles. Which do you prefer and why?

I definitely see what you mean with the diamond band blending in.

I actually love the hammered ring in your stack! They both stand out without clashing with each other and the hammered texture gives it a unique touch.

Your hammered version also has the same width as your e-ring, which stacks better with your e-ring.
The diamond band being thinner will wedge closer with your e-ring and look even more blended-in/hidden. If your diamond band was the same width as your e-ring, then maybe it would look a bit better.

My wedding band is actually half-diamond platinum and my e-ring is rhodium-plated white gold with a single solitaire.
If I look at the rings underneath my finger, I can compare the 2 metals. The rhodium plating is wearing down, showing the more off-white color of WG. The platinum is definitely "whiter", and a little shinier than the WG. WG metal is also softer than platinum so it dents more easily, hence being a little more dull.

Oh yes, congratulations!!

The hammered is simple, classy, and lets your engagement ring be the star. To me the diamond wedding ring + the diamond engagement ring looks fussy and takes away from the engagement ring.
Don't take what we say too much though - buy what you love.

So the band with diamonds is one ring and the same width as e-ring. Half the ring is diamond and half plain platinum. It's called an offset style. There's not 3 rings, sorry for the confusion!

Ooooh, got it, haha sorry, my bad.

I still prefer the hammered version haha. But like @millerc said, go with what you love! wedding bands are a very personal choice!

Good luck!

The hammered seems a bit more sporty to me, and I'm more drawn to the half & half. I am also trying to decide on my wedding ring and I think I am going to go with 2 bands, one plain platinum band in the middle and one diamond band at the bottom. I also found that putting the two diamond bands close together took away from the e-ring.
