I want to buy something bigger this year, so I’m saving up money to splurge. I think I’m deciding between these 3 options, and as you will probably be able to tell, I’m very much into nature themes.
1. Van Cleef perlee clover bangle
I think it’s so cute. I love how it’s more stylized than your typical bangle, yet is still a wearable bracelet for every day. I love VCA pieces in general, and this would look great with the Alhambra and frivole collection. The clovers hint at something natural, but the design is still abstract enough to not look too cutesy. I know that I’m eventually going to buy this bangle some day, but I’m just not sure if it just has to be this specific year that I pull the plug.
2. Tiffany enchant flower bracelet
I actually *really* like rose-cut diamonds, because I think they add some extra texture to a piece. I also love anything flower-related. This is actually my favorite design for a diamond tennis bracelet, and I’ve liked the design for several years now. I just wonder if this will have longevity as I get older, since flowers maybe aren’t very “mature” and, unlike me, my mom hates flower jewelry. I also like the Victoria mixed cluster bracelet, which my mom would more so approve of, but it’s more money and I just don’t love the design as much as the enchant one. My hesitation is that as I get older, I maybe won’t like flowers as much anymore. (Unlike right now, where I’m a huge fan of the VCA folie des pres bracelet with pink and purple sapphires, which is pretty much flower overload. But that one’s $125,000 so it’s not happening any time soon in this lifetime...)
3. Tiffany enamel and diamond butterfly brooch
This is actually a high jewelry piece that would have to be special ordered. I’ve seen many, many butterfly brooches before, but this is by far the most life-like piece of butterfly jewelry I’ve ever seen. The craftsmanship is absolutely stunning. I wear different clips and pins almost every other day, so I’d for sure get use out of it. Also, as a decorative piece, it’s just so beautiful to look at. I’m just not sure if it’s worth the money though — kind of like the bird on a rock brooch. (Speaking of butterflies, I also really want the Graff butterfly pendant. I was looking at one of the Graff butterfly necklaces before deciding that this brooch is just so much more special to me. Also the Graff butterfly is significantly less money, so I could buy that some other time.)
I’m really struggling right now with what I should get next amongst these three items. The clover is to me the most wearable, but perhaps the least special. Whereas the butterfly is the most special, but maybe the least wearable. I take off all my jewelry when I get home, and I pretty much change up my pieces every day. Still, there are certain pieces of jewelry I find myself reaching for more than others. It’s just hard to know what type of balance I want to achieve for my next big purchase.
