Help me choose my first bag

Hi, everyone! I’m looking to make my first luxury bag purchase. My heart is set on a Gucci Marmont but am nervous because there seems to be mixed reviews about it. Some people say it’s great while others say it’s trendy and it should be skipped. If you don’t think this bag is worth it, what would you recommend? The reason I like this bag so much is because it looks like the younger, more fun cousin of the Chanel flap. While that is a beautiful bag (and clearly much different), it’s too dressy and too expensive for my taste. I don’t want something that I’ll be afraid to wear or that I won’t be able to wear often.

P.S.- I’m not looking for LV right now.

Gucci Marmont is a good alternative to a Chanel bag. Have you also considered YSL Niki bag?

Part of me feels that way because I do love it so much and the other part of me is scared to spend so much for the first time on a bag that will be outdated in a couple of years.

I’m really new to all this so I hadn’t heard of that one. I like the shape but all the pictures I’m seeing seem like the material is very wrinkled.
